Well, I need to vent. Aside from all of the other problems I have been having with my car, this last one really struck a nerve.
Out of no where, just sitting at a stop light, my cd player shuts off. I have no idea why, I wasnt even touching it. I tried turning it back on and nothing. So I got home and checked the fuse, it was fine. Then I checked all my battery connections. My amps were getting power and everything was fine there. So I had to rip apart the dash (not fun becasue it requires removal of the entire front). All wires were gettig correct power. So I figured the player was done. I removed it and touched thepower lines directly to the battery and it worked fine. So I went back and rewired it. It was working fine again. So I put it in, and get the worst engine noise ever! I battled this for hours, but I couldnt figure it out. As soon as I staryted sliding the unit into place, the noise would just pop on. I tried everything, but could not figure it out.
So in the end, I ended up with the fuse pulled on the system and 6 X 9's in the rear run off the deck. I guess I am going to just redo everything when school is done.
Frustrated...

Appears to be an example of the importance of ensuring power distribution is done properly.
Personally, I have found that it will cost you at least as much as a decent HU to properly distribute the power for a basic high performance audio system .... ~$300-$400.
Do it right the first time.
You can have the best audio hardware on the planet, but if the juice don't get there ... you still got the best audio hardware on the planet.
