Post copied from my car club forum :)

Today was one of the hardest most miserably cold days I have ever spent working on a car. I should and could have not bothered, but if I want to meet timeframes and deadlines I have to do this. It sucks, but it is worth it, as some of my repairs now show.

Got to Art's with my buddy Greg around 1 as usual.. Helped Art put his roof back together (lol that was a laugh and a half) and then headed to the lockup to work.. Now this lockup was like a refridgerator, but outside was completely and totally unbearably cold...

So the first step was Art removing the spoiler (I'll get to that later) and me doing more nose work. Now since seeing those holographic flakes I now know that this has to be fucking perfect. No way can I leave a half ass dent in the car because they'll focus that. So the debadge has entered round 8. Yep, round 8. Dont be a perfectionist, its alot fo work !

However, I did get the deer print and the bend totally out, and painted, and it was worth the hard work. Excuse the red nose, the debadge will be done very soon ! Also you can see I have started repairs on the front bumper, this is a nice easy smooth and prime job requiring little thought..

Image

Pretty feggin perfect if I may say so myself (apart from the snot from the debadge ruining the look hehe.

And another perfect repair pictured below. This one has been so much hard work, the Tiburon is an absolute NIGHTMARE to repair as it swoops and swerves all over the place in so many directions (thanks Pinifarina ! ;D )

Image

And another complete repair :)

Image

And now a lesson.. When you have a car that the world's best designers shed blood and tears to make sexy you DONT then slap a fucking bird table on the back. So, I call this one "as the Italians intended" (it would be complete but flash times on the bondo were over an hour even with double hardener :o yes, it was extra cold today)

Image

Zach.. Remember when we were talking on here about how paint shouldnt be laid at under 55 '? well this is why. Even primer acts like water.
These are scratches and divits that were in the paint on the rear quarter, and theyre now gone and need simple 'blowing in' with paint. but when youre hovering around 28' it just doesnt happen for you :( This is a simple fix now tbh, sand out the runs and give a couple more coats to get it nice and white :)

Image

The reason the rest came out OK (on the front end) was because the engine heated up that part of the car nice, and the door was heated by the heaters. But the rear quarter just wasnt playing ball.

A nice productive day, and one that yielded a gift that money usually can't buy.. When we were looking over the 1967 Caddy Deville we noticed that it had a license plate fram that was seriously, seriously fucking gnarly. Forged from billed it's shaped like something out of aliens with these dangerous looking horny pointed screw caps. This thing is OEM and would have been a upgrade at the dealership in '67.. But when painted black and put on my tib it's going to look fucking scary. Ill get pics soon :)

Cool old things....

Pretty crazy to think that I would be putting a factory part from a 1967 Caddillac Deville on my car isnt it?

Well when we were down at Art's we had a good look over the old beast (thats looking pretty sorry for itself) and I noted something really gnarly on there.

A plate frame.. But not an ordinary one, one that was designed to match the Caddy's front end. So I took it off.. It's amazing how futuristic this looks and even in today's modern world just how alienish it looks :)

This is it here.. It had some pock marks (it's billet btw) kinda like corroded.. So I sat with a sharp thinger and scraped them all so that they became holes :)

Check out the spike things ! I need to mold these and make 2 from bondxxxx
Image

Then once that was done and it had been scuffed so that things could stick to the shiny sanded surface I got out the spot putty and skimmed over all the pock holes.

Image

And then sanded the spot putty to smooth, hiding all the damage.. Note that big can of degreaser? a must when doing any prep work !
Image

And then primer, which was a bit of a sod because Its cold today. I shouldnt have done it but it came out good and now the fucker wont corrode anymore..

Needs wet sanding, then black base and clear :)

Image

Will look really vicious on the front of the tib with them spikes protruding out

Photo radar, they need a front plate in the picture otherwise you can fight it and win.

I'll pay the $75 no plate fine all day long as it is not a moving violation and doesn't affect your record as a speeding ticket would. Photo radar at 15 over $200+ and the added charges for 4 years on your insurance = no front plate for me.

I do however carry it in my trunk in the event the excuse of "sorry it fell off the other day and I haven't had a chance to replace it" is needed to just get a warning from the officer bored enough to stop you for no front plate......... :D

Those prisms don't work. Take a 45 degree angle photo of your front end at night with the flash, if there is any evidence of any lettering in the photo your prism was a waste, those pics are really HI-res and are far better than the crap they send you in the mail all they need is a shadow of letters/numbers to make it out.

It kinda sucks because the tib's front bumper just isnt set up for this kind of plate :(

In europe they put them down below on brackets (over the mouth area)

I might cut into the bumper and inset the plate, not sure yet.. If I can fit it in timewise I may do so :)

It looks good, but I don't think the camera is doing the color justice. Looks a bit brown to me but I know that's not the actual color.

The camera could be picking a brown. Very often black paint uses brown or blue dye's as a base. I think some of it has to do with cost. My paint distributor friend explained this info in somewhat detail a few years . If I look in the right light I can see 'brown' in my factory black paint.

I think it actually was the color of the kitchen reflecting into the rims.. The finish is mega shiny :) looks really nice as it goes.. I put the cap in this one for show. Gotta paint the insides now with the gun metal rustoleum.

Front end lights are now all done.. They dont line up as well as I would have liked but they were in an accident before Art totalled his Tib, so beggars cant be choosers and they still look utterly fucking sick.

I call this the stare of death. Black insets in the headlights and black clear corners.

I painted the plate frame black yesterday and then remembered the whoile mesh front end idea I had sitting in boxes..

So I decided about 10 minutes before having to leave for work that I would paint the mesh black and let it dry... Well today I did more, and more, and when I got home from work at midnight Meg motivated me into getting it done.. So I did, with her help I fabbed up the bolt holes (brackets I did during the day) and nailed out the wiring (into the OEM fog loom)

All that needs to be done now is to put the red streetglo in there and paint the behind black (Meg's doing that tomorrow)

But check it. It actually looks like a factory option ! It really did come out fucking amazing.

Image

And just check this out. These things are fucking sickly bright. The evil front end is really shaping up to look as menacing as possible.

Jesus man I love Meg SO MUCH. She really is an inspiration to me.

Without a spoiler, that boot looks kinda like a grand prix.

You should take your taillights apart and smoke/blacken all of that chrome. There is no other chrome on your car, so it looks a bit out of place now.
