question about amp power

Post by mmmadog »

If you bridge an amp like a ms2250 and have 2 subs hooked to it at a 4ohm load how much power is each speaker going to see? 1000 watts that the amp is rated at or 500 each? I say both speakers are going to 1000 watts. I would like to hear your qpinions. Thanks............Matthew

Bridged ouput power divided by the number of subs is how much power they will see

nope...that would be sweet though

think of this...

if you had an amp that made 1000 watts at 4ohms
and 16 4ohm drivers...

that could be wired in a series/parallel to get back to a final 4ohm load on the amp.....so by your idea...the amp would then have to make 16000 watts!
my ex-girlfriend said "its car audio or me"
i've had tougher choices at a soda machine...

Let's say...output power 1000 watts @ 2 ohm load

2 subs wired to that amp in a 2 ohm load will yield 500 per sub

In that scenario the speakers would see 62.5 watts per speaker...if the amp was capable of 1000 watts @ 4 ohms
