Has Anyone Used These Before

Post by dBincognito »

I've been looking at these for quite some time now, and I can't decide whether or not I would like to buy them...I am not looking for any alternative here....I am just looking for feedback on these, if you have used them.....the build quality looks to be better than par.....and I am really enjoying the fact that the tweeters not only have long leads coming off of them...but they also have jackets on them as well.....not something you see very often....any input is great, but please try to stay on topic....I'm not looking for what is good on paper...I could care less...I'm looking for real world performance...

someone commented these use XBL^2 tech, which should mean very linear excursion.

Those tender little burgers with them little, itty-bitty grilled onions that just explode in ya mouth like flavor crystals every time you bite into one.. just makes me want to burn this muthafuka down.... Come on, Pookie, let's burn this muthafuka down!!!

That's the older Adire sourced set... this looks like the newer Hifonics setup to me. Those Adire comps definitely sounded fantastic! Loads of midbass too!

There is a review on diyma somewhere. IIRC the review wasn't too good.

I used to have an RE Se sub back a few years ago and it wounded great. After the company sold to US Amps I don't know anything about them. Back when they were still having Adire OEM their stuff they were considered excellent.

That's how I feel about all of PG components.....to harsh, to bright....not enough midbass

So nobody has a pair ?

Wow

I liked the sound of the RSD comps.....but in Christian's car the tweeter placement is too bright for my liking....maybe a different location would differ my opinion on them

Really, even the RSDs? I think you would like them. Just don't mount the tweeters on-axis.

Haha! I did the double-sticky tape trick to find the ideal location for mine. Just so happens they sound great down in the Scion factory kick panels. Getting them flush-mounted was a bitch, but they seem to have a good home down there. I really couldn't imagine them up any higher, but I've always found them to be pretty smooth sounding based on other PG comp sets I've heard in the past. Even though the XS series lacked midbass in my opinion, I thought the tweeter in that comp set was fan-freakin-tastic. I'd love to come across some new old stock of those...

When I heard them, the tweeters were mounted in the corner panels by the windshield...they were not facing you.....but they were way too close for me....I like subtle tweeters

Mine are definitely more on the subtle side, but definitely show their presence when the volume is up. I listen to a lot of rock/metal and can't stand hearing a cymbal crash that sounds like distorted pink noise at 130db
