i agree with the EQ suggestion. don't get one! i use a 5-band parametric EQ and it does more than enough. i'd say unless you really feel the need to tweak certain areas, just stick with the EQ in the head unit and spend your money in better areas of the install.

5-band parametric EQ

Am I the only 1 who finds the EQ's in HU's to be f****** weak.....I would never use ANY option on my HU....I would turn the EQ off on my HU and never use the x-over's either

IMO....external equalization is a MUST...my HU's only job is to play CD's

I like PG stuff but the Clarion also has sub level control that the PGs don't. Decisions, decisions.

You can use a LPL.....for that

I'm not fighting the Clarion....I use it....it works great...I love being able to quickly adjust things.....and the Clarion has a Mute circuit...so when you turn the volume all the way down...it goes silent

I may be old...well, actually I am, but I prefer knobs to scrolling through menus and settings and all that for doing this sort of thing. Does soundstream make good stuff these days? I know back in the early 90s they did but I never owned any.

As far as the LPL...too many gizmos!! If I can do it with the EQ that I would be adding, I'd rather do it that way.

Well.....we are comparing it to a Clarion....which is not all that great to begin with....most in dash EQ's are not that good.....they are just good for the purpose they serve....like being able to change things quickly

The Clarion would suit you just fine......especially if you don't want to scroll through menu's

The LPL can be used with the PG EQ's.....but at this point I would say just get the Clarion

The PG EQ's won't give you that driver seat control option

Unless you plan on mounting them in the dash....like me

The TEQs are in-dash. I'm not even going to think about trying to mess with a 15 band EQ. Thats just too much adjustability.

Hell, maybe I need to just buy an Alpine 9887 and let it do its own thing...but the X592 was so cheap. I couldn't resist trying one.
