Anyone ever use auto time alignment and eq on a higher end pioneer unit with an included mic?

I want to find out if anyone has done this with success before doing it myself.

I have an 860mp and tried it, it really didn't work for me. It gave me a good starting point, but really didn't do the trick for me.

I have a 980BT that didn't come w/a mic.

It came w/the hands free mic, but in the manual states not to use that one. I'll email Pioneer.

yeah, there are two mics that should come w/ the 980bt. the handsfree mic is cylinder shaped and the auto-eq/t.a. mic is disc shaped with a tiny little mesh speaker grill.
