Goin active very soon

Post by nutxo »

Please rate what I have so far please and tell me what else I need

Head unit pioneer dex-p1r

Comps rsd6.5c . I plan on running em active. Are the focal access 1 better or maybe old mb quart? I cant seem to find any old crystals anywhere.

Amp Soundstream 705, 50 watts x4 or 200 x2 to the fronts and 400 to the rear.

sub treo tsx10.22

RCAs and power wires are already what I consider to be near the best available so not relevant.

Im using the Focal Access and they sound great, the tweet is a little harsh(passive) but im sure I can fix that when I get my EQ 215X  As for the rsdc's I have not heard them personally but people seem to really like them. One thing about the Focals is they do lack midbass, but I am not totally satisfied with how I hve them mounted, and they will also be recieving some M series power in a week or so
I hope this helps a bit 8)

Yah. I wasnt impressed with the pg comps . Its like something was missing and no matter what I did I couldnt eq it in. Then an odd thing happened. I went to the store and left my son in the car. While I was coming out he had the stereo blasting and it sounded perfect from in front of the car. It sounded great.

I need to figure out a way to reposition the things. 1995 camaros are really hard to get a good front stage with modifying maybe.

Try flipping the phase on your passenger side mid. Worked wonders in my car. After that I had to flip the phase on the sub as well, otherwise it was noticeably quieter.

Depends on what you think is enough. I got less than 100W to each side of my RSd components with the passive soaking up some power and I think it's plenty loud, louder than I ever need or want.

I think 50W per woofer and 50W per tweeter should be enough for any moderate system. If you crave volume and headroom like nothing else, you'll probably want more.

Im going to run an M25 to my tweets and an M50 on my mids, active. Im running around 90-110 right now (non PGpwr, passive) and like fuzzy said, its plenty loud. It really boils down to personal taste and hving them crossed over properly and you shouldnt have a problem 8)

Hmm. I like my tweeters to be so loud it fels like icepicks in my ears....

Guess Ill have to make do until I find a set of amps that look appealing.

LAWL. I just reread your post. I have 150 goin to each side right now and liek 185 ish when I was runnign the mmats last year.

Try flipping the phase of the passenger side at the amp then. Should give you a good idea if it's better or not.

Also, 50x2 is lots for active. Don't forget 50x2 active is basically equivalent to 100w through a passive, which splits the power between both speakers. And you won't have the passive sucking watts either!

I think your setup is going to rock!

I agree, 50W per driver should be plenty. I was running 75W per driver on my RSD 6.5 and it sounded pretty good.

i run 75w x 4 to my active RSDc comps and it's more than enough, trust me. i'm still surprised how well these things respond when pushed past normal listening levels. i keep expecting them to hit a wall at some point, but my ears plead mercy before they do.

At most that's only a 1.5dB difference. And yes that amp is definitely very underrated.

dug out what i could find in the garage today, didnt find the power harness or trim ring. i think they might be in my toolbox at my uncles house, will look tomorrow. didnt find a pioneer sleeve for it in my stuff, not sure how you plan on installing it. as far as i know the pioneer sleeves are all the same. in the pic on the bottom you can see one of the rcas has a dent in it, should function fine. like i said it isnt a show piece but has plenty of life left Image Image Image Image
