Because a thread title of all ????'s messes up the search engine optimization script I have in place.

Really we should try using descriptive thread titles here, like "Bride of frank amp'n stein", instead of "????", because ??? doesn't tell you anything about the thread. Not only that, it lowers our pagerank with Google, because we end up with a bunch of pages called "hey" "???" and "lol wtf", instead of car audio related stuff.

Anyways, the BOFAS was a joke photoshop by Ahsmo and Eric D that was posted on the original PG forum. However, when people saw it, they went crazy, and started calling PG up asking how to order one, etc.

That was the straw that broke the camels back, which caused PG to shut down their forum. It's kinda funny because it was a critique of PG's current game, and it tried to show them what would happen if PG released an oldschool classic limited edition amp. Too bad they couldn't listen to their fans... and spit in their face by shutting down the forum instead

Yes Ahsmo and I came up with that. I took photos of amps I had at the time and Ahsmo put them into one using Photoshop.

But that is not what killed the forum. It actually inspired a lot of the PG engineers and they even made their own photoshop creation to post, "Count Vampula".

The PG forum died sometime later after this. I was told in part due to my disgust for the Rsd line, but I think that was made up bull by people who did not care for me and wanted to blame things on me. At the time I did think the Rsd was a joke, especially compared to the Xenon which despite problems was a ambitious design with potential to be successful. But in reality I never have seen a Rsd amp, and since they are not sold within 100 miles of me I never will get the chance.

As for the BOFAS concept itself, I believe it will come to be some day. I have a heatsink for it, along with the pair of MS275 boards needed, and I have designed the MS275 endplate to house all connections for that end of the amp.

I am mostly done with a MQ475 which is half of the BOFAS, and when done I plan to use the MQ475 to build the BOFAS.

http://www.soundbuggy.com/Eric/Car%20Au ... index.html

I have sourced a powder coater for the project. I have all the smaller electronic parts and terminals needed.

All I am missing is a MS2250TA board to modify to more power, and the money to have the endplates wire EDM cut. I also need some endplate artwork, but I can do that when the rest comes together. I could use some plexi artwork unique to this amp as well, but again that can come later. At that point I would likely open it up to anyone for a design competition. I want the plexi to continue the FAS theme, but advance the line even more.

Count Vampula, ohhhhhhh, now I am thinking, a M100 flanked by 2 x M25's

the M series base cannot be that hard to replicate , it's the top case that would need some work , can just imagine the graphics, in the theme of the Rocky Horror Show and some Fangs.

Yum Yum, and a cape for good measure.

I really do like what you've done there pedi, and eric, you are the man ... the more of your work that I see the more I am impressed. I want to built a really custom m amp...I am having a friend build a single backplate and front shroud to pull the outlaw and bandit together but I mean really nuts...three m100s or something...I don't know but your projects are defiantly inspiration....

No offense, but I don't see why you guys think bigger is so much better. 3 M100s in a heatsink would be so long it would never be useful, and IMO it would look real tacky.

Why not do a pair of M50s side by side, or a M50 and a M25? One off smaller amps make more sense, are far more usable, and as an added bonus would be easy to ship.

I started work on a pair of M50s in one heatsink, called "The Sherriff". I figured a cool Sherriff's badge in place of the Outlaw logo would be neat (It could even say something like to server and protect PG or maybe something less hokey), and it would go well with the Outlaw and Bandit theme. A nameplate for it could also be sunk into the sink just like on the Outlaw and Bandits. I also considered a white heatsink, white chassis, and white terminals with a black cover, or just the opposite. I want to stick with the higher end terminals like those used on the Outlaw and Bandit with set screws instead of barrier strips. Either way this would be a nice small amp I could put into a hand made crate and keep it really interesting.

I like that, you could run a 3-way front stage with it, and save a M100 for subs.

Burr Brown- Eric D help?

Post by BigBrent »

Is it possible to do a Burr-Brown op amp upgrade a PG M50? If so what are the values? Where can I find something like that? I have lots of time on my hands and am getting ready to replace the caps... any other mods or a link would be appreciated as well. Thanks.

Yes. Just drop some of these (or better) in place of the originals...
