Some of you guys will probably think I am nuts, but I am confident this damage is from lack of use.
It's the fact that your idea makes so much sense that I really didn't want to hear it Eric! I bought my powercore on accomodation from PG and have been saving it for a big TiAL install for a few years now. :x And I thought I was keeping it factory fresh. I'm going to have to call my brother in Utah and have him crack it open.

Okay sorry about delay but finally got my pc open and swapped back to ti-metal. here is what mine looks like...from just taking top off to cleaning a bit and exposing cap in full...

I also called alumapro and the guy that answered wasnt a tech, but he seemed to recall hearing (think he said his name was matt also), the tech matt speaking to someone about this...

SOOOO DID SOMEONE CALL??? AND IF SO WHAT is the deal?? can these be got and easily enough removed/replaced???

I will try later again today and see if I can get in touch....

QUESTION IS THOUGH.... Mayhaps we could work something out with them as to getting maybe a number of them to bring cost down??? who is in if this is apossibility... sure monjey would play a role in determining that... but i dont have clue right now as of yet....

Corrosion.

Yes, the black part is the cap. The rest is just terminals, lights, and a big relay to turn the cap on.

So that's 3 for 3 now. Sorry yours is dying too Matt. :(

At least it looks much better than mine, and is probably still usable. Interesting though that they all seem to occur in the same spot, right at the negative terminal.

I wonder if I should fill mine up with CLR or something to dissolve all the oxidization

Definitely check them out Pedi.

While I was an Alumapro dealer (jeez, is there anything I didn't carry? lol) this was VERY common. My rep would come by 1 or 2 times a month (he was also my PG rep) and ask "how many caps do I have to take back with me today?". So, yes it definately is a known problem. And has been for a long time.

And to Dp.. didn't u ever do 'the Shocker'?

Yeah Greg. I'd better do that. But now it is the last weekend before I travel away for work again, so I will check them out when I come back home instead. This weekend is just familyweekend..

I would be intrested in a new core (depends on the price, off course)

Matt, mine looks like yourse.

As stupid mentionned: strange that they all crack on the same spot. Maybe a weak point of the core?

The fix was to replace them. With, of coarse, the same problematic product. Which when IT went bad, they would replace again and again till the warranty was up. As far as I know, they never did do anything to 'fix' them.

I took care of the corrosion with CLR, once I had taken everything apart. It just ate through that stuff.
