need a list for screen painting amps, interested?
OK here is the deal the shop painting my truck has a graphic printing machine, so I talked to him about screening the PG info back on an amp after it has been re-powder coated. He said he could do it but would need a good screen to scan into the machine. So I thought I would throw this out there to people who need their amps reconditioned but were afraid, due to not having the screening capabilities. Anyone interested in this post on the forum what amp you would like done and how many, if there is enough interest this could definately happen. Think about it post your thoughts I figured between the forum members we should be able to put up quite a few to be done.

what kind of screening process is involved??? is he making silk screens up for this??? I'd be curious to know what he can do it for? and/or what is it that is needed from us to make it happen? scan the amp or end plate and shoot it to you???
Doing the silk screening on amps and end plates is where I would also like to go once the plexi's get wrapped up. granted that may be a long time, and perhaps he has the equipment to do it a differnet way/process?? but still curious about cost and what is it exactly that he would be printing with as a medium?
& Tony- did you get my PM about the jackets?

It would not be silk screening that is a little different process this would be a machine cut vinyl that can be layed down on the amp then airbrushed to your color spec. same basic idea just a different way of doing it. The cost would be fairly inexpensive if he can do several of the same amp it's the one offs that would cost more to setup the graphics machine he didn't give me an exact cost but if we can get say 10 amps (or heatsinks) of the same style maybe $15 to $20 each. I talked to Pat who use to do the powder coating for PG and he said it should work perfectly.
This is only gonna happen if there is enough interest, just like a cnc mill machine it has to be configured and setup which is not as simple as just scanning an image and printing it out. so to make it affordable we need to get several lined up. Colors could be anything you want or factory.

correct! He can do whatever but to keep the cost down the more of one we have the cheaper for everyone it will be. If 1 person wants a 1 time deal it may be $50 to get the machine setup and to do the work not really sure the prices but I know he does good work and we think alike when I say cheap so I'm thinking like $20 eachmhyde71 wrote:so we would need 10/15 of one type of amp/plate/graphics... but they all could be of differnet colors as long as graphics are the same? right?

As for the vinyl graphics-- it won't be the same as screen printed. I would consider vinyl only as a last resort, but that is just my opinion. Any abrasion to the vinyl and it will tear and peal, it will also have significantly more thickness than screen printed art.
You could save yourself a bunch of money and buy some of the ink jet DIY decal sheets geared toward the model making crowd. You print whatever you want, in whatever inkjet color(s) you want and they go on just like the decals you used to put on model cars when you were a kid.

well the powder coater is a friend of mine possibly when he said that he meant the limited stuff was powder coated but my impression was all that stuff was powder coated until ti amps came out.dBincognito wrote:I was just going to say that I strongly disagree with the above statement about MS and M amps being powder coated. I believe the amps like the outlaw and bandit and select other's are powder coated....but the MS series is baked enamel except for the anodized 2250's....the M series and the ZX series are both a basecoat/clearcoat ( just like on your car )...the black ZX amps are a crinkle finish type paint ( like the kind you find for auto parts )teamradrz1 wrote:well the powder coater is a friend of mine possibly when he said that he meant the limited stuff was powder coated but my impression was all that stuff was powder coated until ti amps came out.dBincognito wrote:I was just going to say that I strongly disagree with the above statement about MS and M amps being powder coated. I actually believe the baked enamel on the MS series to be a source of heat build up.....I am testing that as we speak...after I change the caps I will be putting the board back in the raw aluminum and shooting it with a temperature gun to measure the differences it may have vs. one that is still painted with the original paint to compare the differences in heat dissipation.
I will take any dirty M, MS,ZPA or white ZX amp and prove it....just send it here....and watch how I make it shine
I've personally stripped these heatsinks....and there is no way they are powder coated....I have a pile of paint laying on my front yard right now
ZPA's are also baked enamel...no powder coating there either
Hmm, I was always led to believe that they were powder coated. I guess it doesn't make much difference, not to me anyhow.

What is the smallest print that can be done this way??? I talked with a printer about this same thing some time back and they were not sure if the smaller lettering would turn out.
