Any opinions on box for RSdC124

Post by knightrider358 »

Hi again everyone,

So I recieved my BNIB 12" RSdC124 today man was I drooling  :P :P

So I was reading the manual and was wondering hers my situation. I will have my HU signal going to a soundstream BX-15 bass enhancer (w/ a SSF) (thats a subsonic filter) with a 13v signal output then goes to a 4-way X-over then to a PG ZX200 bridged @ 2 ohms. Now this will all go in my 4runner and yes it is fully dynamated

Now the manual says that a 2.5 cuft and a port tuned around I think about 26-28 Hz for the best sq in a vented box.

This question is for all the phorum vets out there would this be the best box for this sub or would a different sixe box and/or a different size port. Also should I go w/ a round port or a slotted port. And if you dont mind if any one knows what is the equation for determining the frequency of a port in a box.

Any input and advice would be greatly appreciated please and thanx! :D

Take a look here. I'm not sure it would work the same with an RSDc, but it sure pounded in my 4Runner with an RE SE!

I think its acrually this type of box

http://www.diysubwoofers.org/prt/dual_chamber.htm

mr tibbs do u still have the designs and/or all the actual dementions (all of them and ports LxH) all the specifics and how did that really sound in yours and what amp did u have powering that monster of an sq sub? I dont mind wasting $50 bucks on building a box like that but I think Ill need more than the 400 watts Rms Ill have powering mine cause that allot of air to move in that box to make it sound really awsome. Also would jus a 4' x 8' sheet of 3/4" mdf be enough for that monster box or would I need more. Thanx again sir for any more info.

Also anyone else have any suggestions on a great vented SQ box PLEASE.

Not only do I have the dims, I still have the box! In the 4Runner I was running the RE SE off of a MTX 500D (250RMS @ 4ohm). Not only did it pound, it had the best SQ of any sub set up I have had to date. It did pretty good in the FJ also when I recently tested out the SSA Dcon, but it definitely did better in the 4Runner.

do you think I could get a copy of the dims PLEASE!!! LOL I really like the fact that box was for a 4runner I love boxes tuned to the car they always sound freakin AWSOME!! I had a dual vented dual 12" box for my old 93 diamante w 2 type r's and a clif designs 10.1LX 1000w rms powering them and I yet to hear anything hit as low and as tight as that set up I had OMFG that thing was so clean and soooo loooow I reiforced everthing and 2 to 4 layers of extreme dynamat and the vibration was still rediculous.

What gen 4Runner do you have? This was for a 3rd gen (1997), I'm not sure it will fit in the others.

If I had to design it I would be SOL, but I can build something with the right plans. Maybe I'll throw the RSDc I just ordered in it and see what happens in the FJ! :D
