Any one know how to do the calculations to convert the SN in to a date ...... or is that even possible? i know there has been a post on this before but can't find it.

The 001 indicates it was the first unit built that day. I believe the Gregorian calendar date is in there too.
edit- OK, I got the straight scoop. First 5 digits are the product, second 5 digits are the number of days since 1900, the last four digits are the number of units built that day.
So, in this case:
05081 is Octane LE
37595 is the date built (enter this number in Excel and click format/date to find the regular calendar date)
0001 is first unit built that day.
