What to get/do?

Post by smgreen20 »

Should I (A) get the 3 1/2" RSD off of ebay for $35 shipped and do a 3-way front end, or should I (B) buy a 2nd set of RSD6.5c's off of Amazon for $40 and do two 6 1/2"'s up front?

Money's tight right now so I'm not sure if I can afford to do either, but IF I can do it, which one?

Set up A: 1" RSD tweet and the 3 1/2" RSD mid off of the RSD6.5c's passive crossover and HP them actively at 300 ish Hz, from chs 1 and 2 of the ZX450v2 and ch's 3 and 4 to the RSD6.5c mids from 300 ish Hz to 63 Hz.

Set up B: 1" RSD tweet actively HP at 3,150 Hz from the ch's 1 and 2 of the 450 and two of the RSD6.5c mids at 2 ohms from ch's 3 and 4 of the 450.
"ZPA's will have the same sound essentially as you get from the MS, they just feature a bigger shinier set of balls."

~ 300Hz is where the RSd 6 and 6.5 component set seems to be a bit lacking. Errin had mentioned this and it was more or less true while RTAing my truck as well. You may want to ensure that whatever xover point and slope you use if you're going to use a true 3-way system will account for that (or just EQ it!).
