Has anyone used any of the higher end JVC units with the touchscreen? They look slick, and they have 24 bit DACs and quite a good amount of onboard processing. Just curious for now. I am looking at new head units, and I have only found 2 that are candidates. Alpine 9887 and Kenwood X993. The Eclipse 7200MKII is the bomb, but it looks pretty ugly. The JVC KD-AVX77 has caught my eye....as has the lower AVX models.
Other than that, Clarion makes some pretty featured decks, as does Pioneer, but they just are not doing it for me. I kind of want to try the Alpine Imprint too.
Am I missing any? Sony does not make any ES models anymore?
JVC touchscreen head units?

Yeah, Sony's been out of the Mobile ES game for almost a decade. I haven't played with the 9887 although I have done the 9886 with the external imprint processor which is largely the same. It's probably got the most processing cababilty of the bunch, but I would still go for the Excelon KDC-X993. That bad boy really can't be beat for the money! It's got the bells and whistles like some cool ipod capability, multi-color display, and bluetooth hands-free. But don't let all that "flash" turn you off, it's a solid performer as well.
