What year did PG start selling the MSTA amps Morgan? Although I can concede the fact that there wasn't a huge market for those types of amps, you're not going to sell any if that niche market isn't aware of them. After being a dealer for several years I didn't learn about them until CES '04 (I believe) when I noticed a pair of MS1000TA's and a handful of MS2250TA's on the blowout price sheet. I took them all on the spot and then had many more built to order including one for myself. Stephen even told me that they had stopped making them until myself and a few others started to show an interest and they pulled out all the old parts bins again! It was right around that time that a buzz started on the forums and amongst the loyal fans and PG had quite a surge in sales from what I could gather. I believe the lack of sales in the years prior to that could be largely attributed to yet another PG marketing failure.
I can't remember the exact year, I think 2001. The main wall or exhibit in the booth at CES (back when people went to CES) had MS amps in a big display front and center. Magazines ran plenty of press releases. They were also the first amps listed on the price sheet, since they were the most expensive at the time.dedlyjedly wrote:What year did PG start selling the MSTA amps Morgan? We built them, lots of old schools guys were fired up, but at the end of the day. XS amps went flying out the door and MS series sat in the warehouse. Market had changed.

Stipud, remember about 1-2(?) months ago, I sent you a pm discussing this EXACT same thing, a bunch of enthusiastic Phorumners BUYING out PG and their patents? Next, I posted the "Perfect Amplifier" thread, which lots of guys read, but only Randy shared his thoughts (thanx, by the way dawg!) I am a VERY SERIOUS cat. I'm sure we could obtain PG's patents, copyrights, machinery, buildings, and various other intellectual properties for not more than a song!!! We have Francious to crunch the numbers, Eric D, Randy, Cecil, Truett, Tom,and the others for design and upgrading, Jason in fabrication.....what the heck did you guys think I was up to when I posted these two links?

I know this sounds "overly-ambitious", but at one time, so did building a company called Phoenix Gold! I haven't run a cost/benefit analysis scenario (Francious?), but I'm sure it would cost less to buy PG than a new start up. Even if we totally flopped, we wouldn't lose much because of the cost of acquisition. (*Rodin could use the tax write off of dumping PG!!!) Look at the other forums guys...there is STILL AND WILL ALWAYS BE a market for superior technological products. Even if we DON'T buy PG, I'm positive that DOC and Cecil have magic a-plenty they have been working on...all they need is "to be useful to their friends." Guys...re-read my posts. We can TOTALLY do this !!! Sure, it will be a little scary, but ALL of us have thought of this or something damn close to it at one time. As my homeboy LeBron James says, "Squeeze the trigger!" Aren't there enough of us perennially un-employed, and damn tired of it? How can you exist the rest of your life KNOWING that you didn't try this, but wishing that you had? Wouldn't it be GREAT to gift the world with some new limited edition type products that were made with quality as the main tech spec? We could make this cost effective as a higher priced amp, and sell as many as we cared to make, as there is mostly junk in the market now. (*Isn't that why we still pursue Old School PG products and keep modifying and repairing them?!?)
I have to wrap up two HUGE projects within the next month, and then I'm free for about a month (from mid-July thru end of August) if you guys want to try an acquisition or start-up. I never kid...ask Wakeup. I'm known for my lack of a sense of humor and ability to stay as coherent and focused as a beam of light. LET'S DO THIS!!! Karmic-ly speaking, this is why we're here...this is our purpose, and the reason we were drawn together. Whatever guys...LET'S ROCK before Waynehead blows a gasket!!!

I for one dont want to see PG get flushed down the shitter, it has been a dream of mine, since my Huggies days
to work for PG. Is there the money on this phorum to back this up??the buy??I for one am unemployed, as a good chunk of us are, on this phorum,
, but I agree with THE WIZARD, there should be some serious thought to this.
Wizard may not post much, but when he does, he has alot to say! I am onboard for this, that is fo' sho!!! Lets take a real stab at this. We have the know how, and the money shall follow

Ball is rollin'...
All right dudes!!! We're goin' the right way! I truly believe that together we can (and SHOULD) do this! With the intelligence, experience, and passion that we have on this forum, we could do ANYTHING...including reviving the legacy of Phoenix Gold. I believe that people "meet" each other for specific reasons, or at the very least that we should learn something from everyone whom we meet. Honestly, what other POSSIBLE reason could there be for such a diverse and eclectic group as ourselves to have met than to do this very thing?!?!? The ball is rolling!
Let's first address some concerns which we might have with one another, as trust will be absolutely paramount to the success of this endeavor. Oldskool was concerned about whether or not Phorum members have the money this would take, as a LOT of us are un-employed or haven't the disposable funds for a move like this. First of all, this would take care of our unemployment/underemployment issues, as everyone who wanted "in" could find SOME way to help this project. There are those of us with technical knowledge, some of us have marketing experience, some legal eagles...there is work for EVERYONE WHO WANTS IT! As far as the money...business ain't all about the dough ya' got. There are MANY sophisticated, legal ways to achieve our goal. Some of us have no money, some of us have a lil' bit saved, and some of us may have QUITE a bit available...I am positive that WHATEVER we need, we will be able to get it. (*Right, Wakeup? hehehehe...) However, although I believe that we can indeed do this, realistically there are certain "cogs" to the system whom we will ABSOLUTELY need in order to succeed...those dudes whose backgrounds are a NECESSITY to this operation. A technical endeavor such as this demands a qualified engineer and/or those heavy into the field. We have those dudes...but we haven't heard from them yet. Are you guys' down with us, or do we have to head-hunt a technical mercenary who doesn't care about the craft and is only looking for a paycheck? We would HATE to do this, but we will if we have to. Randy, Doc, Truett, Stipud, 1MoreAmp, etc...ya' got your ears on???? EVERYBODY...take a few days to gauge your interest and whether or not you want "in". Consider that your days of unemployment will be virtually over, and that there will be substantial opportunity for everybody to do well with the products we will make. We all know PG's main mistakes, and we won't make 'em. We're gettin' up a head of steam gentlemen...time to "shit or get off the pot!" Time to put together a team. I think it would be a great idea to dedicate a segment just for this, somewhere where all postings would pertain to experience, planning, updates, needs, and results. Stipud, how about it...could/would
you be willing to hook this up?

like I said I got nothin but time to help and after surfing the employment adds, this looks better then the rest of what I see. If there is something I can add I would be happy to help. I have a degree in electronics and almost 15 yrs of installation experience to throw in the pot which isn't much but it all adds up.
Maybe we should start a couple of lists of shit to do? Goals we want to accomplish? I think it would make it easier to divide and conquer if we can see what is infront of us.

I am not a tech or an electrical engineer,I would not be qualified enough to design circuitry for a line of amplifiers. I also would not think of mentioning myself in the same sentence as Cecil( who is no longer part of the phorum), Eric, and Jim Truett. I can do things, but those guys are light years ahead of me when it comes to knowing what's up electrically. I usually speak with them on anything I work on, they have the year's and the work to show what they have done. I've seen all 3 of them do work that is almost unbelieveable. I could only hope to be as good as they are one day. I would also have mentioned Matt's name before thinking of mine, with him doing all the custom plexi's and getting the silk-screening thing going. I am just a little fish in the big sea, I would be willing to contribute in any way I could. But I think cosmetic design would be more up my alley....especially if I teamed up with Jason and Matt.....that would make a very interesting amplifier.

Jason is one of those "cogs" I was thinking of. What happened to Cecil, was he pissed off over that Ebola thing with T? I read that thread...Don't know WHAT that was all about, but there appeared to be something residual from another time. Hate to see him go, as we could use him and I'm SURE he could contribute MONUMENTALLY to what we're going to do. Can someone contact him and gauge his interest? He absolutely won't want to be left out of this!!! Earth to Doc, and Ground control to Major Tom (Stipud). Where R-U cats at?!? WE NEED YOU!!! Francious, we could use a preliminary cost-benefit analysis. TToc...any circuit board design experience, and where are you located? As many of us as possible need to get together and outline a plan of attack. First, let's
outline goals and assets, What do we want to do, takeover or start-up?
Let's try for patent/property acquisition first. Are they selling their own intellectual property, and if so how much with NO restrictions? If not, we outline our objectives as far as building OUR OWN LINE of amps and subs, two things hardly EVER done right! EVERYONE...start bombing the site with what we need from amps and subs! If YOU could have the perfect amp and sub, what should they be able to do? What size, sensitivity, and power would be right? What materials give the best response? How about amps? Multi or mono...power? Let's get some ideas floatin' guys...you don't light a fire and then watch it burn out!!!!!

Cecil is out. All bridges with him are burned as far as this forum goes. Individual members may still be friends with him, but I will not associate with him.
Brenz, good to see you still around man, glad to know no hurricane or monsoon has carried off you or Tom! lol
And I'm sorry to disappoint, but I don't know cost/benefit analysis. I'm sure I could learn pretty quick, but I imagine I'd need all sorts of info like, operations cost, acquisition cost, planned income.
The whole point of acquiring PG would be to start manufacture of new amplifiers and speakers, or just to say we own the company?

DB, I am flattered by your comments, but I guess i'm like you, I look at other ppls stuff (yours included) and say wish I could do like that, that well and stuff... i could only wish i could produce and whoop together someting like jason's doing and stuff... yes i have stuff on the burners and feel good about the final results and when people praise my efforts and/or work completed... but I'm sure I am still leaps and bounds behind most others with respect to some of this here- but willing and eager to learn...
thanks for the kind words, but i feel somewhat as you, I wish i could stuff like Jason, eric, cecile... but it takes years of expirience and dedication... which i think we all have that in common to say the least...
I'm in, but not sure where I would/could fit in.. yes I have silk screens going to be ready this week in fact.. dropped off frames with mesh to get exposed... anxious and pumped that I might be having the first RCA LOGO Plexi here in next couple of weeks.. but will that help us with our goal that we are discussing now???
I have always wanted to open up a Car Audio Hall of Fame Restaurant - like Baseball/Basketball hall of Fame with a restaurant attached/combined. PPL might come far and wide to visit the CAHOF, and whilst their visit, they could enjoy a nice dinner or lunch... and the menu would be geared to car audio... i.e. The 0-ga Fries, bazooka hot dog, 250RMS, 500RMS or 1000RMS Wings/Ribs, 10" Steak, etc... etc... Have areas sectioned off for private parties or something and call it the distribution block... (this is just sitting here in 15 minutes... think if we put our heads together for a bit, we could prolly get an entire menu drawn up) AND the name for restaurant: "The Crossover Network" -
have headrests (4 per booth) stemming from the top of the booth like in a vehicle or get bucket seating... fun stuff to think of anyways...
AND OF COURSE all kinds of various LE amps, processors, HU's, etc... that adorn the place, all kinds of amps with guts up through the table booths (or a MS1K) upside up at the bar with a glass over the top to cover it ... so you're dining on top of an amps with it's guts up... Acquire PG, Make car audio, and turn it into a hall of fame of which admission tickets could get bought at.... and they could dine at before leaving? NO?!?!?

We're off our biscuit, and on a roll!Wakeup wrote:CAHOF:mhyde71 wrote:DB, I am flattered by your comments, but I guess i'm like you, I look at other ppls stuff (yours included) and say wish I could do like that, that well and stuff... i could only wish i could produce and whoop together someting like jason's doing and stuff... yes i have stuff on the burners and feel good about the final results and when people praise my efforts and/or work completed... but I'm sure I am still leaps and bounds behind most others with respect to some of this here- but willing and eager to learn...
thanks for the kind words, but i feel somewhat as you, I wish i could stuff like Jason, eric, cecile... but it takes years of expirience and dedication... which i think we all have that in common to say the least...
PPL might come far and wide to visit the CAHOF, and whilst their visit, they could enjoy a nice dinner or lunch... and the menu would be geared to car audio... i.e. The 0-ga Fries, bazooka hot dog, 250RMS, 500RMS or 1000RMS Wings/Ribs, 10" Steak, etc... etc... Have areas sectioned off for private parties or something and call it the distribution block... name for restaurant: "The Crossover Network" -
have headrests (4 per booth) stemming from the top of the booth like in a vehicle or get bucket seating... fun stuff to think of anyways...![]()
NO?!?!?
Don't forget a special room either soundproof or semi sound proof for special crazy listening!

Errrr, Matt-Wakeup....as ambitious and enthusiastic as your CAHOL idea is, this isn't exactly what I think we have in mind. We want to either:
(a. Acquire PG the entity in its' entirety and immediately
begin to manufacture all of their patented products. Our itinerary would also include product updates, enhancements, new products...
etc...ANYTHING which restores PG to virility in the car audio market.
Barring that goal, we will....
(b. Start our OWN high end audio product company, manufacturing our own patented designs. Amps, subs, signal processors, speakers systems...you name it! No diss intended as I respect you both IMMENSELY, but their is really no relevance between this goal and our primary or secondary objective. I for one TRULY hope that this doesn't dissuade either of you from joining us for the ride.....WE NEED both OF YOU!!!!
Randy...don't sell yourself short! You may not feel that you are DOC's equal in electronics (*really, what three men are?!?!?), but you have something significant to offer, and your ideas for product enhancement are top shelf! I would LOVE to see a design team of Jason, Matt, and Brenz for starters...their design ideas would be works of art, I'm sure.
Anybody seen Stipud? What is the deal with the secrecy surrounding Cecil? There are many of us who truly don't know what went down and would like to. What about Doc? We need to establish our goals, and then initiate the plan for realization of them.
We also need to group ourselves into teams of similarly situated individuals so we can do some stuff. Since not everyone here knows everyone, the most efficient way to do this is to maybe list your experience, training, specialty, or resource available. (*Not Money!!)
