xenon rating question

Post by todd217 »

are the power ratings on the xenon mono amps at 2 and 1 ohm correct. or do they just not bother posting the true numbers.

xenon mono amps output the same amount of power with any load from 1-4 ohms due to a feature called xe.load. while the ouput is the same it's still better to stay away from the lower impedance loads as the amp will draw additional current. thus 4 ohm mono is the optimal load for the monoblocks.

xenon multi-channel amps also have this feature so that a single channel can handle 1-4 ohms. when you bridge two channels together the working range shifts up to 2-8 ohms. same current situation also applies so the optimal loads are 4 ohms stereo or 8 ohms bridged mono.

to add..they are cea rated, so their output is rated at 4ohms. and yeah, running them at 4ohms is better the 1ohm the built in protection wlil let the power supply make more power at 4ohms
