Speaker cables won't stop the box from flying in an accident. A headrest wouldn't stop that weight, and the speaker cable would snap instantly.

X 2 or 3. How much does that thing weigh with the speaker in it? would you hang the box from the ceiling and expect it to hold? I can remember tying my neighbors door in my dorm shut with some 12 awg wire that I had and was suprised how easy he pulled the door open, and then chased me down the hall......
Seriously man take a 2nd look at it. It just can't be safe like that.
I'm not a bogan... There is no way this box is moving trust me. It is locked in place by the recess of the door against the steel bar of the upright of the seat (in this car the seats rear does not fold down). Then there's the head rest shape and bottom of the seat to stop any sideways movement. The speaker cable isn't even needed but I did it anyway (plus its 2 runs of 10 gauge stinger cable). The only way this is moving is if the door takes an impact and shatters the fiberglass and in that case there would be no stopping it anyhow.
Thanks for the concern guys anyhow - it is really hard to see what I'm talking about unless seen in person. Actually with all my weight I cannot budge it and I think if I tried any harder I would break the box with my super human strength...
All we're saying is... a car crash throws a lot of force around. Way more than you could exert. Last thing we want is for you to t-bone someone and have a several-hundred-pound weight fly into the front of the cab, taking off your head.

Nice looking work on your door pods those are sooooo hot!! did I just refer to door panels as hot . I'm slightly confused as to why you did not remove the backseat and put it into storage. having the sub and enclosure sitting on the seat is kinda odd IMHO. to each there own but fine glass work nonetheless. I'm with the others bolt, fasten or do something to hold that thing down.
Keep posting pic's for our greedy eyes....speaking of which I should do that on my own thread.

I would agree with the general concern...I have seen too many boxes fly out in wrecks and I've seen the damages done in the car when a wreck flings the box around....I would strap it down...
even if you can"t jar the box loose with all your might the force of a 35 mile an hour impact is about ten times that in force and energy...freeway and highway speeds or even the consideration that both cars are traveling with any real velocity the force will double...newtons three basic laws of force...if a force is strong enough to break the box loose nothing but an equal and opposite force will stop its path...ie...people and anything else in the car at the time....20lb being propelled with a combined force of 35 mph impact and it will kill someone...not so much the box but the sub itself as the box would most likely shatter the first time it hit anything that hard...if you were lucky it wouldn't be you...or a cleint...or a freind or a child
looks good but you really ought to tie it down somehow...safety first man!!!!
I was trying to do the math in my head to figure out the force it would create if a 50 lb box came to an immediate stop at 35-40 mpg and didn't want to finish it for fear that I would never be able to use less then grade 8 bolts to moiunt my next enclosure.

To answer that- where would my 8 year old son sit if I removed the seat!!!! And I've seen many boxes on seats but none molded into one. I like to be different... If any of you remember the Fusion Stretch limo I did you'll know what I mean.

They are the sub bolts
They are Chrome Allen head screws... Not all that common but easy to find if you try.

It is a ink print. Looks very close to the real thing... There were better prints even some that were digital copies of carbon but wouldn't fit with the size of the box.
Even still I'm happy with the finish- you can't tell unless your right up on it and know the difference.
Really sweet work! Can you clear a few things up for me though? What is "bog"? Is it body filler/resin mixture? Also, what the hell is an "ink print"? Is it what we refer to as a vinyl wrap?
The box on the seat is different, but looks stellar. Keep posting pics for those of us stuck at work :p

Bog is just a word we use for Body filler.
The ink print- I cant remember the proper name for it... But the process is like this. You prep the surface smooth with 400 grit paper. Smoother is ok but not needed. Paint it the desired colour or paint effects using 2pac paint. You need a large container to accommodate for the objects size. The ink is on a kind of plastic which you lay on top of the water. Theres an applicator spray that you spray onto the back of the plastic. This eats or dissolves it leaving only the ink on the surface. You then dip the product into the water slowly and it prints onto the surface. After drying and cleaning it is then clear coated.
This is the dash in my LEXUS and it was made to look like bone. Its to hard to see in the photo but it looks real.
As you can see even the vents have been done. The application is endless. We can even get a digital photo made up. I've a friend who has his whole car done (well front panels only).
? get up to 40 er 50 mph and then slam the breaks as hard as you can?
