Yeah it was nuts. The spring weighed 1 1/3 lbs. approximately. He was traveling around 120-140 mph when it either hit him directly or ricocheted off the car. With the small contact area, and the speeds involved, they estimated the force of impact as equivalent of 1600 lbs. hitting him in the head. Fractured his skull and caused some swelling they had to relieve. They have live in-car shots as it happened. Pretty wild.

I hope he is ok. Freak accident though.

Michael Schuhmacher is the reason why milions of fans quit watching formula one! The races got boring with him and ferrari up front all the time!
