I am currently designing the audio setup for my car. I bought a ZPA 0.5 a while back, now it's time to use it! for subs I have
2 12" JL w3
1 12" JL w7
I also have the choice of buying 2 12" Hertz High Energy HX300D, which would match all my speakers.
Now all that said, if I keep the JL subs should I do Tri-Linear mode? should I run the w3's in stereo and the w7 mono?
the w3's are dual 2ohm vc
the w7 is 3 ohm svc
OR
Just a single w7 mono?
OR
Do I sell all those subs and get the 2 12" Hertz High Energy HX300D dual 4 ohm?
ZPA0.5v2 setup opinions/help

If its about SPL use the w7(and I think you can mod amp for more power). If you want best SQ go the 2 W3s. The W3s should pound off that amp. If you wire subs in series/parallel you will show amp 2 ohm load, The ZPA can eat that for breakfast.
I wouldnt bother with tri-mode as there is no free lunch(you will end up with all subs seeing less power), and its never good to mix subs playing same freqs(it will sound like a$$).
Personally I'd stick with JLs

I am not sure if tri-linear mode is possible or not in your case. The W7 will cause a 1.5 ohm stereo load, so adding two more 4 ohm loads in parallel may work in theory.
You shouldn't mix types or sizes of subs, as it causes cancellations, which cause dips in your frequency response. Considering these speakers will all be playing the same frequency, since you cannot cross them over differently, then I do not think it's a good idea.

And if you do the mod, you can't, or shouldn't, go below 2 ohms mono as you bypassed the circuit that would keep it from frying itself.
You might find, as I did, that you wont even need the mod done at 2 ohms. Mine hasn't switched modes since it's been in 2 ohms mono.
Just stick w/the W3's.
