I would HIGHLY advise taking the cover off and checking for corrosion on the terminals or for leaks. We found that they can go bad after time while looking perfectly good on the outside. If they will not let you take the cover off it is $150 to reman them.

That's only for the 15 farad one... the 20 farad is an array of small capacitors. In the 20, look for visible cap bulging, or any sign of electrolytic fluid on the board.

The issue with the 20 farad is that you have a lot of capacitors... and just one individually leaking electrolyte can short the whole mess out. So while it's technically superior in every way, they are less reliable at end of life.

However, the 15 farads are much slower capacitors, so do not filter as well, and we have found major corrosion issues with them. I would probably go for a 20F if I had the choice between the two... both of my 15's have had the same issue.

actually pat martin told me that the 20 farads were the worst of the lot for failure and fire....but that is just what I was told. You won't see any of them in my car as many problems and fires that they have had. All the way around they had some greivious engineering oversights and they failed to rectify the issues on any of them.

got the cap there is no leakage at all and looks clean. But one of the caps does have a bent in it pretty badly i even check under the board and all looks fine i will try and get a picture up of the bad cap
