The ones I ended up using are not so big....3900uf 63 volt...the bigger caps are either non stock or have a 30 to 45 day back order. The stock were the 6800 uf.....they will work and if I find it lacking power or doing anything funny I'll order the big ones and let it sit.

As of yet this amp hasn't been benched since I got it so I got what was available for now....I can give you the part for the ones I have. Next go around I am just going to try to order directly from from panosonic and save myself the headache of scouring the planet for the biggest I can find

next on the agenda are the installation of the dual op amps....so there will be 6 rather then the 3....ordering the parts to do that this evening...bench this and make sure it is ok....and then I'll break it back down and do the op amps in a week or two....it'll be some slick shit for sure and if I choose to build the dual ops myself the parts are under 25 bucks....if I buy the ones done already it is 50 a set...so 150...fuck that....there is a reason I learned to solder like a son of a bitch!!!!!

Thank ya Joerg....coming from a vet at this stuff it means a lot to me

Now, thats quite small. I have the 6800´s in one of my MS2250´s and will need another 4 of them or what would be even better is 8 pieces of the original ones!

As far as the vet thing goes! You are for sure working longer with those amps than i do. I quit car stereo back in 2003 and restarted in 2009. I replaced my first caps on my own during spring this year at SOFAS #48 It worked out quite well but still had to send it out for repairs as it did´nt work after the capswap. But it wasn´t my fault. They had to replace one of the opamps and a few transistors

The vet´s in here a other people like nico, tom, eric, cecil... I´m just learnig by doin and reading thru the how to do stuff posts in here! I even managed to completly destroy the MS2250 i bought from joma! A cup of tea and a powercell 3000 batterie hooked up to it didn´t workout very well together!

On a side note!
I finally got everything together to build my DR. Frank Amp´n Stein! I just need to sell a few items to raise funds as i don´t want to throw in another ton of money again.

I have 4 of the original nippon caps...blue 6800 uf 63 volt...they are n old stock and as I intend to run the amp and the caps had issues from the gate...I've been told by everyone not to use em, so I havn't!!! Matt got 50 of em I think...but same boat...if you intend to run the amp find something else.

I hate the fact that the caps are 3900 and not 10000uf...but from what I am seeing to get a good cap with that capacity anymore they are all 40mm high if not larger...now I though about having Jason design a plexi that has holes for the rail caps and then just run with the 40mm caps and let em sit flush with the top of the plexi...would be a slick custom look but as far as install goes you would have to be pretty carefull about where you put the amp

Well Joerg...you've got abuot a thousand more posts then me so you are a vet in my book :D :D :D

Tea and batteries...ouch....so did you get it going again? send it here Joerg and I'll have a looksie :D :D :D

I've so blown my budget on this amp already...it is too the point that I don't care anymore...do all I can to make it mine and unique and hold it if I can for the rest of my life!!!!

I saw the link you posted for the caps but have been to slow. By the time i realised it they were all gone. My amp won´t be installed! It will be a little  reminder what used to be state of the art back in the day and still is top of the line today. So if u don´t need the 4 caps i would take them off of u!

The MS2250 from joma shorted out real bad and i pretty much used it for part´s and already have taken part´s of the board and used them for other amps.

take a pic of whats left Joerg and let me see how bad....if the transformers are intact and the board didn't ignite it should just be part replacement. cost a chunk in parts and would take time but it would be neat to bring it back from the dead....if you want these caps you can have em Joerg!!!!

Looks great B! You are making real progress, so don't stop! Hopefully within the next 3 weeks, I can make a trip up there to get the box finished. Though a battery and alt might be need now. :( One step at a time.

The board ignited and lost a lot of the gold traces on it. It wouldn´t be worth saving it. Better keeping it for parts!

Just shoot me a PM how much posted to austria for the caps bogart. :D
