Need some serious help with a word doc

Need some serious help with a word doc

This file went crazy for some reason. No idea why. Any ideas? I've tried changing fonts, various file cnoverters, changing to rtf,but nothing worked.

Girlfriend typed it up for class over the weekend, she went back to open it and thats what it was. She still hasnt learned and saved it on a flash drive rather than hard drive. This is what happened. Any idea what this is?

I've seen virtually the same thing happen when a document is typed in word and opened in works or visa versa... I think it is a matter of incorrect data for the file type, regardless of what caused it, it could even be due to using very different versions of Word...
