PG ZPA & Ti Elites SOUND Quality???

Hi guys ive finally got everything needed for my install

, i cant wait to get it all installed

, i bought all the stuff as i knew it was all top end stuff but ive never heard any of them, has anyone heard or can tell me what it all will sound like...?

what kind of car? Didn't think they had cars big enough in europe or england to power to 0.5s and a 0.3.........

Its a VW Mk2 Golf with a Mk5 R32 engine

it is and sounds like a lil animal, as it stands ive had the engine conversion, leather retrim interior and wheels put on, it came 2nd place at this years GTi International

you think wrong.... in my old install i use 6 Ti amps over a vw golf and they play loud

You know that we got the same cars on our streets in europe now, than u got here. All those Toyotas, Hondas, Mercedes, VW´s....

All that I said about overkill? Forget it. That audio will fit in perfectly with your car. My word that thing must be quick! I don't suppose you fitted the AWD as well?

With your ZPAs, I would highly recommend you have the input and power supply capacitors replaced, so that the amps will last as long as your car. Right now they will be pretty old and tired and leaky; they will be running on borrowed time. Once they leak electrolyte on the circuit boards, they can short out and burn some nasty holes in your amp.

An uprated alternator will be a likely necessity, as well as a good battery.

I also recommend using a .5 for the 5-1 set, and the .3 for the 9M's. I found with each set given equal power, the 9M's were louder, so I would recommend the amp that gives the components more power.

na ive kept it front wheel drive otherwise it would be to much cutting at the back of the car and loose a lil power bein 4wd... although it has bin done

0.3 on the 9s and 0.5 on the 51s...??? will that not underpower the 9s and overpower the 51s?

Since the 5-1's have the passive crossover, it drains a bit of power from the speakers. Without the crossover, the 9M's do a lot more with the given power. With the .3 on your 9's and .5 on your components, the volume will be almost a perfect match between the two sets. With the .5's on your 9M's, they would be way too bloated, and you would have to hammer on the .3 to have your components keep up.

Not sure who can do the amp work for you in the UK. It can be done relatively easily by yourself... we have many how-to's that describe the process. However if you don't have soldering experience, I don't recommend starting with your ZPAs. Not only can you burn traces off the board, but it is easy to pull out VIAs, etc. and cause more harm than you solve.

how often do they need to be replaced or does it depend on how long/much they bin used?? they prob bin used 1yr "MAX"

Depends primarily on age, though getting hot does accelerate their deterioration. About 10-15 years is a good replacement threshhold. Newer capacitors may last even longer than that, since the capacitor technology has improved since 15 years ago.

be careful to not drive your ti 9 and 5's to distortion. the neo magnets loose their power with large amounts of heat. not to say they are glass fragile, but just something to be mindful of

The speakers are built by Morel in Israel, so Morel speakers are of course very similar. Dynaudio is also very similar, if not better, but certainly a lot more expensive.

They definitely aren't the most flat speakers. There's some coloration and warmth to the sound, which sounds quite good i'd say! An EQ does help you tame them a bit more, but only if you have an RTA (real time analyzer) to tune it with.

RTA??? do u no if the Alpine F1 DVI 9990 and the PXI H990 have it? not really had time to look into the features of them but i do no they are top end stuf... il have to look into that, i only picked the F1 gear up this wk at a good price from a demo show car.

does the sub need a eq to it aswell? i no the PXI has got 31 bands for speakers, and 10 for the sub, and 10 for speakers and 2 for the sub parametric eq bands, automatic adjustment, road eq and automated time correction

i no what you mean, i know when the 951s were around they were expensive, now uv got focal, rainbow, genesis which are double to quadruple the amount and same goes for audison amps, im sure they all sound good, they better at that price anyway lol but i aint won the jackpot so im not looking into them.

gonna dream and drool over my system tho

An RTA measures the frequency response of your car, and displays it as a graph. Then you adjust your EQ by bringing down the peaks until everything is flat.

Your F1 stuff I believe has the imprint technology that lets it auto-tune this kind of stuff. It's not as good as manually doing it with an RTA, test CDs, and hours of listening... but it's good enough for 90% of people.

Well thanks... I run this place, so I guess it is natural that I know a thing or two

I have all PG gear of course. Elite 6-1 front stage, elite 5 midranges in the rear, an RSDC 12", and a Ti500.4 powering the front stage and sub. I haven't updated my install thread in ages though...

the f1 is the best unit you have all the features you need on it to do eq time aliglnment and everything

the ti elites are fantastic

im currently building a car for competion using the 951 system and xenon amps and w7 subs

the only problem i can see you having is the subs they are not a realy a sq based sub and dont really match up to the front end but all you can do is try it it may work

oh and instalation plays the largest part of any system if top line kit like you have is installed badly it will sound like £20 speakers

bugest for a good load of sounddeaning (ive used just short of £1000 pounds worth of dynamat at trade prices and im not done yet!!)

Really, the Elite not suitable for SQ? I've run it and several W7's, and the Elite is far more SQ oriented if you ask me. As far as big subs go, it's one of the better ones. They play much lower than typical street boomer subs... it will be a perfect fit with his 9-5-1 front stage if you ask me!

why is it not a sq sub? sure its inefficient...but its is a great sub
