REAL Gold circuit boards

Post by KUB3 »

Just thinking out loud more than anything sensible...

What is the surface of the circuit board made of inside MS amps? Is it a blend of copper and brass? It's kind of gold-ish in colour but a little dull.

Anyway the other week I was reading about a process where someone had chrome items on a car coated in real gold. I think it was a portable hand held electrolysis tool of some sort.

So... I was wondering if it was possible to gold plate the circuit board tracks in an amp? Maybe by using some sort of hand held tool with careful precision? Obviously it would be utter madness to strip an amp of every single components and send it off for coating!

Thoughts?

No, I redrew it in photoshop from the original - taken from an amps endplate. (It was then inverted, turned greyscale, with the cable drawn using stroked paths).

I'd be interested to see the t-shirts though?

Ahh, they look pretty good :)

Although I see the original RCA connector has been changed. It looks a bit cleaner than the original version, for use on a t-shirt I guess. Although some of the cables key lines look a bit wonky on the corner radius. If I were doing artwork for print I'd redraw it in Freehand MX or illustrator :)

Back on topic...

Oh thanks Marco. I will have a bit of a polish and see if it comes up more shiny!

Can anyone recommend a cleaning product? Perhaps lighter fuel?

Most metal polishes will strip the gold electroplate right off, stick with the iso as said earlier in the post...I found out the hard way trying to polish up a gold plated batt terminal..
