Can this be fixed?? Crossfire BMF1000d blown mosfets?
Hey guys, unfortunately my pal had an issue this morning....
smelt smoke and sure enough after dismantling some of the amp a whole bunch of what i think are mosfets are toast and smelling nasty
Can these be replaced and then the amp is good to go again? i have no experience doing anything like this and have little to no time for it either. Does someone wanna have a crack at it? It was driving a 1 ohm load with the gain at 1/3 up. nothing too nutty just a couple of 12's. let me know as maybe we could send it out to someone here and provide a beer for said person or whatever works. let me know depending on cost may or may be worth saving. it was the competition model so even more rare.... not that it matters all that much.
thx guys.

That is really a pretty nice amp. I just worked on one for a guy locally. As stated, the driver transistors are probably toast as well.

I still have one of those lpl controllers laying around at my house. A buddy who was really into Crossfire gave it to me for my XS. (Yes this was when I was a car audio noob.) It didn't work and I never used it since. Just to lazy to put it up on the bay.Too bad cause it came with the level controller (lpl) that was really rare. Can always throw that up on the bay i guess.

Chances are all it needs are the 8 new MOSFETs, 8 gate resistors, and two new driver transistors. All of that would be around $20 in parts.

I would try fixing it, but shipping would probably kill the cost of the repair.
