Yeah... More amps and stuff have been purchased/added to this install. But more to come, hehe...

I have sold the Ampulance. It was too long for my garage, and I could not overcome the fact that it was a Volvo...

I guess the next car I will buy for this purpose, is a 1995 Chrysler Grand Voyager (Caravan US-edition) - or similar.. I am still looking around...

Yeah, Volvo does not quite ring the bell in my head. The reason why I am considering a "Mommy missile", is that it is shorter (fits better to my garage - the Grand Voyager is 3 feet shorter than the Ambulance), it has good internal space for all my woofers (a normal sedan don't have) and the 3.3l version has Automatic tranny. Not too many Euro-cars from early 90-s have auto, normally only manual stick.

So that is why I am considering such a car. The Volvo would be sold anyhow, and I'd go for a Mercedes Ambulance - but as I wrote - the Ambulance version is too long for my garage...

I would rather see you downsize your install and put it in an M5 estate! :D

How about a BMW X5?

And there's always the SCANIA option

But seriously a turbodiesel light commercial vehicle would be perfect, like a Ford Transit, Volkswagen Crafter, Fiat Ducato, Citroen Jumper, Peugeot Boxer etc. That probably wouldn't break the bank either, and you won't be stuck with the worst car North America has to offer

OK Stipud....

Here's the reality...

Ford Transit: This is really a VAN... And probably the worst vehicle Europe has to offer, hehe.. I do not want to have a big van for my install, the idea is to have a car which is not too big... The transit is also too big for me, I want to have the possibillity to lift the car up on my lifting hoist in my garage.

Downsize: Not an option really. Maybe 10x12" instead of 12x12" if needed. But no - not yet...

Scania? Hehe... I'd love to. I love Scania P620 V8, drives like a dream.

BMW M5 or X5: Yeah, I'd love that too. But remember, we have other taxes here in this country. I was drooling over a new 2007 X5 with 7 seats 2 years ago. They wanted 300.000$ for that one, and you can add another 100.000$ for a M5. So, I'll stay away from those.

Anyhow, I'd like a car from the early 90s - so that the car also was "correct" due to my install...

I actually think an 80's van is a good idea and really lends itself to a huge sub enclosure. You could have all the subs right behind the driver, then keep a reasonable sized luggage area right in the very back of the van, say a couple of feet deep. Then imagine opening up the rear doors and you are greeted by a huge wall of amps! Of course this layout would work on an MPV too. Or a commercial vehicle.

In fact, forget it all. Buy a Golf and sell me your spare Stroker 18 :D

Early 90's VW Transporter then?

Bonus points if it's an ambulance and you can keep your original theme :D

Yeah, besides that I hate VW - it is still a Van... Agree?

It is big, and it almost have the the text written all over the chassis: "I have room for alot of speakers".

The Voyager (Caravan) is big on the inside, but small on the outside..

Still not agree?

Yeah I couldnt think of a worse car to buy. 3.3L auto went through 4 trannies. They only seemed to last 100k at most. After the 4th broke (400000km) we gave up, but the engine was still fine.

It's definitely no driver's car by any stretch of the word. If you can get the 2.5 turbo version they can be made into total sleepers however. Then again with that much stereo performance is moot anyways.

I am not so sure Pedi, a Caravan may be a "minivan" but it's every bit as big as most Transporters I have seen. What about the lighter commercial vehicles like the VW Caddy sized stuff?

Tom, I was a Chrysler mechanic from 95-98.... Damn, I hate changing those trannys. I do not think it is a cool car either. I will be honest with you:

Chrysler (Dodge): Not cool, even though it has a better look as LE-edition (but rare here in Norway). But I am familiar with those cars, and I can fix things myself...

3.3l engine: can manange to pull the car forward, even with all the shitload of subs and amps I have...

Auto: Do not have to worry about the clutching when playing "loud" while driving in que. I know all'bout the weaknesses of those trannys, but by adding a oilcooler to the tranny - lots of troubles solved..

Caravan: Remember, I said "Grand" - the long version = better space.

In 1995, quite a few of those 95- Grand Voyagers was rebuilt to Handicap-purpose. That means lowering of the internal floor (= even better space), and powered sidedoor.. This is the one I was hoping to grap - hopefully in white color (MS-related, hehe)

I hate VW even more than I hate Chrysler, so no transporter nor caddy..

No, I meant Delica.

:D

Still might fit your description of "Japcrap" since it's a Mitsu but it's just about the size you want without being an ugly mommymobile.

Ahh.. OK..

Here in Norway it is called "L400" or so... Delica is non-existent here.

TBH, I have looked at those aswell - they are quite a "nice" ride aswell - but mostly manual stick and 3 times the price of a Chrysler....
