MS-275 fuse

Post by KUB3 »

I have read through my MS-275 manual and it says "use a fuse no greater than 30A per amplifier" near the battery. However it mentions nothing with regard to the fuse required off the distribution block.

*I will be using TWO MS-275 amps initially* So what fuse do you recommend for:

a) Near the 12v car battery? (as above, manual indicates 60A or under)

b) For EACH amp coming off the dist block?

The manual also states: current consumption - Full Power Hard Clip (!)

4ohm stereo 24A
2 ohm stereo 45A
2ohm stereo, 2ohm mono (Tri Linear) 60A

Initially I'll be using one to drive SQ passives at sensible levels only. The other will be on a small sealed 4 ohm sub, again sensible levels only.

Thanks :)

A 30 amp should be fine for both. If you find the one on the sub amp blows, then replace it with a 50 amp. Usually the fuses allow more amperage through for brief periods of time, so as long as you don't play test tones I bet you wouldn't have any problems with a 30 amp fuse.

I agree with KG. Position A would have to have the actual draw both amps "Could" draw under max load, which appears to be 60amps. Than at Position B you fuse each Amplifier to its recommend value, 30amps with the MS275.
