Embarrassing Question - RCA outputs?

Post by ListenUpFolks »

I have recently acquired a couple of phoenix gold titanium amplifiers. A 600.2 and a 500.4, to be exact.

My question is regarding the aux rca outputs on the amps. I have never had
this feature with a previous setup.

Can someone please advise their function and the best way to use them?

You can use the output on one amp to send the signal to the other amp. For instance, lets say you ran a set of RCA's to a line driver, or an EQ of some sort. You could then run a single set of inputs to the 500.4 for your front channel, then from the output on the 500.4 into the input on the 600.2 for the sub channel.

It basically just gives you more flexability in your setup. I personally have never used the outputs, I just run seperate RCA from the headunit to each amp, but if I was using an EQ, I could see it being useful...

Hope this helps.

thanks!

That makes sense. Just speaking hypothetically, if I had multiple amps running my front stage and / or multiple subwoofers and sub amps, would there be a benefit for using the rca aux outputs over y adapters?

other then that you dont have to buy them then!

also the aux out passes on what crossover settings you have used on that amp. (there is a switch for HP/LP/BY)

so for instance, if you wanted to run a dedicated midbass and sub.

you could use the lp at 80ish on the first amp for your sub, then pass the reverese of that on to the second amp and use the hp crossover at around 150 for your dedicated midbass (so they now have a range of 80-150)

or another scenario is using two amps for two subwoofers.

you could set the lp on the first amp power a sub. send that signal to the second amp powering the second sub and then use a LPL to control BOTH amps

ok...I like the idea of a dedicated midbass.

How would the crossovers (hp, lp) need to be set on the amps in order to achive this? Say I run the 500.4 to a set of components, another ti amp on a set of dedicated midabass speakers and the 600.2 to my sub?

you wont need the aux outs in that situation

you would run a single rca set to the front input's of the 500.4

you would use the fronts to power a typical component set (6 or 5.25, tweet and a passive crossover) you would set the front crossovers to hp and probably around 150

the rear config switch will be set to bandpass, and the hz set to the lower end of what you want your midbasses to play (80hz-ish)

then you can use your 600.2 for sub duty

you would do the same thing crossover wise. the coax set probibly has a small cap for the tweeter anyway.
