Have you powered on and tested both sides of the amplifier yet? The more you do to this amp the more you will have to take apart if you discover an issue later on. There have been several times I have put a MS amp all the way back together just to discover something wrong with it which I then needed to take it back apart to fix. Save yourself the effort and test it now.

Same place as a few months ago. It is a prime example of testing as you go. I had half all the way together when I discovered a glitch in it, and I am too uninterested in taking it all the way back apart to fix the glitch, so for now it just sits in the corner.GX3 wrote:Hey Eric how is the Bride coming along ??

I already load tested both sides! I tested with subs, mids and tweets just to make sure it doesn´t have issues in a certain frequency range. I tested with testtones and music. All that´s leftover to do is to test it how much i really can get out of itEric D wrote:Have you powered on and tested both sides of the amplifier yet? Did you test it before or after you spread thermal paste all over the heatsink insulator strips?
Did you test the amp for any current draw when the remote turn on is not active?
The only reason I ask, is silver thermal paste is slightly conductive. You have created a very high resistance short between all the transistors on each of the insulator strips. I am very confident your amp will not be reliable due to this. Either your power supply will fail, or at the bare minimum, noise will slowly develop in one or more channels. You might even end up with a fire, but I doubt it.
Since you first posted the photos of your coated strips in this thread I have been looking at different thermal pastes as time permits. I have concluded none of them are completely non-conductive. If you are building this amp as a showpieces to place on the shelf, then you could leave the paste there. However, if you plan to install the amp, or if you ever wish to sell it, I highly suggest you remove all the excess paste, or you will have problems.

I´ll remove the thermal paste that is too much as i´m going to use this amp. Thanks for the info eric.
I just had a few minutes today and took a few pic´s building the shroud!
Unfortunally my batterie died and i couldn´t take pic´s of the finished product

Today i had a chance and worked on my shroud again!
Now i only need to smoothen the surface and it is ready for paint
I also testfitted the shroud and put it into my BMW´s trunk to give everybody an idea how big that thing is.

I couldn´t wait with taking pictures until tomorrow
I blacked out the inside of the shroud. Then i painted the outside gold metalic! (what else to use for a Phoenix Gold item!)
After that i used a saltshaker put both sorts of glitter in it and mixed them a little! The i applied the glitter onto the shroud. After that a layer of clearcoat and voiala...

Sounds nice but where to put the lighting then? Now it´s under the bussbar to have some descent indirect light.shaheen wrote:Nice one J
I have a suggestion for you.......instead of the bussbar across.
why not , and tell me if I am thinking a bit too much , take 3 caps and put them in a line on each side of the amps, will make it look like both amps share a huuuuge cap bank in the middle of the boards.
