fried my rsdc 12
Yer gonna need a line driver to boost yer signal. IF you can find a TLD66 it'll do front, rear and sub for ya. You might have to grab 3 PLD1's if ya can't find a 66.

line driver will do wonders for your system in general - lower your noise floor, give you maximum power out of your amps at a much lower gain setting and if you get a good one, you can balance your channels so you have the same power on both sides...
There are lots of line drivers out there, PG used to make some REAL nice ones... AudioControl makes some great ones... just about everyone that makes amps makes one ... except the current PG for some reason.
Here is a little info on Balanced Line Drivers: http://www.bcae1.com/ballndrv.htm
and easily one of the most informative sites I have ever learned anything from: http://www.bcae1.com/ The right nav bar has just about anything you could need or want to know about car audio.
At any rate, since your going to replace the subs anyway, If it were me, I would see what that single 12 could do. run it mono at 2-ohm to that Brutus... reset the gains and give that single 12 a listen. at 2-ohms that Brutus should put out around 1kw ... and that RSDC should take it like a champ.

Yes i am very sure it could take 1000 watts as long as you have your gains set correctly and you stay away from the bass boost. Always use an eq to cut
freqs, boosting gets you into all kinds of trouble. Honestly you would probably be surprised how little you lose in the way of output taking away a speaker. I've been rocking a single 12 for a while and I like it.

We don't need no stinkin' bass boost!
However many speakers you plan to power off an amp ie 2-front, 2-rear and sub (usually takes 2 rca's) for a total of 6. But if yer only running an amp for fronts and 1 for subs an SLD44 works great and are easier to find.

Well,
Maybe I was misleading. front, rear and sub takes 6 rca plugs and thus would require 6-ins and 6-outs. An SLD44 and a TLD22 would give you the right amount of ins and outs..or a TLD66 if ya can get yer hands on one.

+1 on the single sub setup. I used to run 2 RSDc 12"s off a Tantrum 1200.1, went to a Fi for awhile, and just last weekend, dropped a new RSDc 12" in a sealed enclosure with a Tantrum 500.2 on it, bridged to 4 ohms. Sounds so damn sweet (AND LOUD) off what is probably around 460 watts at 13.3v. I'm totally over Fi by the way and glad to have PG back in action for sub duty in my setup.

Hey man if you dont mind me asking, how many rcas do your have running from your head unit to your amp/amps. The reason i ask is because I have always just ran one set and crossed over everything in the rear with either the amps or my 215x. if that is the case with your you would only need a tld 22 which is a 2 channel. the line driver is put as close to the cd player as possible and you run your rcas from it to your amp. i have always just tucked it away behind my deck.

Compared to the RSDc, it's nowhere near as musical, and surprisingly, nowhere near as punchy. Even when I had the T1200.1 hooked up to it, I noticed a certain amount of listening fatigue setting in after awhile. I haven't compared sensitivity ratings, but it seems like the RSDc is also a LOT more efficient. I notice that my front stage seems to be getting a little more power and I've actually been able to turn the gains down on the T500.2. Everything sounds very accurate, clean and punchy, just the way I like it.Bfowler wrote:why didnt you like the fi?
The single RSDc 12" just does it for me at this point, and I swear it actually reproduces lows much better than the Fi Q can. You can just hear and feel a noticeable difference. I used to have 2 RSDc 12"s running off a T1200.1 way back when (very loud!), but I decided to remove a lot of weight from my car, and for what my current setup is, I couldn't be happier.
