stereo + bridged ?

Post by ZTwenty8SSR »

I was looking at the auctions of interest at the M25 and M50
http://phoenixphorum.com/ebay-m25-and-m50-vt13739.html

The listing for these says
Triple Darlington allows you to run two seperate components on each channel and also Bridge a Mid or Small Sub across the two channels, simultaneously running all three on 2 Channels!!!

I have heard that rumor before is it really true and has anybody ever done this and what model amp was used and how many ohms did the speakers total ?

This type of setup must make the amp run really hot.

In my opinion if it was a good idea and ok to do phoenix gold would give a wiring diagram with this type of setup unless I have just not seen that diagram yet .
I do not want to run my amp like this just want to know if it is fact or fiction.

i have run mix mono back in the day with a m25. you use passive crossovers. i had 2 orion xtr 12s and a pair of pioneer comps running of a single m25. it was not the loudest setup i ever had 127db but it worked. the m25 ran pretty hot.

Most amps can do it. I had a LANZAR LXR200 back in '92 I did that with. I was a gain abuser at the time so it got hot a lot and shut off. It wasn't because of the set up.

To answer your question: FACT.
"ZPA's will have the same sound essentially as you get from the MS, they just feature a bigger shinier set of balls."

there are some cross-overs that were made at the time to help you do this, it is not a big deal for any amp to do if it is done right but as they said you will not have the loudest system you might want.
what else can I say I am a grumpy asshole most of the time.

I do not worry about how loud my system will play just how good it will sound. And be reliable is always a good thing.

My friend had a M44 at least 10 years ago we built a floor in the back of his civic hatchback and sunk the amp down into it.
It was great till he put a bottle of windshield washer in the back it fell over on the amp and a hole melted into the bottle.
The amp was playing submerged in a gallon of windshield washer till he got home and went to get the bottle.

Dude you will have no problem with how loud it is, as my above post states that system I competed with and it hit 137.7db and all my buddies thought (which I knew already) was the cleanest system they had heard. I can say its a hell of alot cleaner than my system right now (M50,M25,EQ215x) as I have not had the coin for proper deadening and what not, which of course is in the works
