what happened??!!
Ok, so your amp is a mono amp.
Is it working fine right now with only one sub on it?

If the sub moved out all the way, it was not an issue with the sub, it was the amp which did that.
There is no way a sub can move on its own without an electrical signal being sent too it (well there are some ways, but they don't apply to this discussion).
When you turned it on, your amp fed it full DC rail voltage and that pushed it out all the way. Then in a matter of seconds the heat building up in the voice coil melted the glue holding the coil together and it unraveled. That explains the scratching noise when you move it.
If this is the same amp that the Rsd sub died on, chances are the sub did not die on its own, the amp probably killed it. Lots of things inside a Class D amp can fail and cause it to have a shorted output at random.

I'm lost man, if the amp had a shorted output the rsdc wouldn't have lasted so long right? And when I put the new ones in it would have blown both subs considering they are paralleled? I also just noticed a crack in the face of the blown Atlas, not sure if this happened before or after, figured I would have noticed it before
Without any photos of your install or what you are doing, who knows. Did they get wired in parallel using the terminals on the amp, or did you wire them in parallel in the box? Are you sure the second one was hooked up, and did not have a loose connection? Did you use a DMM to verify you had them wired correctly?schroedes wrote:If that was the case wouldn't it had happened to both subs considering they're in parallel? ? Both getting the exact same signal
Subs just don't move on their own. The sub had to receive a DC signal to move it.
Are your wires to that sub in perfect condition? If the wires to that sub were frayed or rubbing against the body work of the car somewhere, that would do this. Many Class D amps have a DC offset output. If your amp can do 50V of output, both outputs may sit at 25V DC all the time, and one goes up to 50V while the other goes down to 0V to create the music signal. If your wires to the sub happened to touch ground anywhere, your sub might be shot with 25V DC (or what ever voltage your amp sits at).

Seems to me they are trying to help you out but you continously won't listen to what they are saying and just keep saying must be a bad sub to all suggestions they give you. Not to be an ass but I know electricians that have no clue how to wire car audio or anything 12 volt related. POST SOME PICS PLEASEschroedes wrote:Haha, regardless if that happened, they are PARALLELED, they got the same signal, one is fine, has to be bad sub I'm guessing, help me out

Just saying you wired them in parallel and showing us what you did are two different things.
I have met plenty of competent people who actually did not know what wiring in parallel really meant.

oh really? Well you are a cheeseball, I think I know what parrallel means, the goddamn rsdcs were in the same way and one blew cuz PG has gotten cheap, now the new one popped out, fyi, parallel would mean they both got the same signal, dis an electrician but it probably took a lot more training than You got pal, what pics You need to see? They are parallel! 1/0 for power, 12awg going to box where I paralleled emgridracer wrote:Seems to me they are trying to help you out but you continously won't listen to what they are saying and just keep saying must be a bad sub to all suggestions they give you. I thought one of the Atlas subs was the one which popped out? So the PG sub popped out as well?

Your not gaining any respect here schroedes , with your above comments .
PS dude , When you ask for help , And we ask for Pictures of your setup , generally your best bet is to post up what we ask for not , to run the same comment over and over .
And most of the regulars would dance circles over what your little setup is ......
And everyone above you that has asked for pics , are very knowledgeable .

I think you need to check yerself real qwik homie.... We're trying to help via the fukin computer and yer doing nothing to help us help you other than spew the same shit over and over..... Yer buddy that placed 3rd in the country should be able to help you plenty because at that stage in the game he's gonna know how EVERYTHING in the 12volt game works and also be able to explain why the sub did that as he's popped afew....
What's yer buddy's name.......? And when/what class did he place 3rd?
Hell, I say hook the other woofer up and see what happens....... If it's yer amp the speaker will pop.............if it was a bad sub then it wont........case closed.

Those tender little burgers with them little, itty-bitty grilled onions that just explode in ya mouth like flavor crystals every time you bite into one.. just makes me want to burn this muthafuka down.... Come on, Pookie, let's burn this muthafuka down!!!
I don't understand what is going on here. You came here and asked a question. We are trying to help you, but we can't read minds and you have given us very little info to go on. If you are frustrated because we have not given you a straightforward answer, that is understandable, but with so limited info, you have to be more open minded.
