Your first customer will be.....JOMA!

I have a invitation for a tour inside the factory that did Ivar's things.
They are the best here in The Netherlands, so I hear from people who work at the shipyard. Those guys build the one-million-per-meter yachts, with everything gold-plated because then the crew won't have to polish so much.....
I''ll post some pics after my visit there [if they let me take pics at all...] :hmm:

I am both very impressed, yet very disappointed with this amp.

I am impressed at how nice looking the layout is and how clean it turned out.

I am disappointed that you cannot access any of the controls once the plexi is installed.

I know it is all together now and looks terrific, but if you ever did have to take it apart, you could at least steal vertical pots off an EQ215ix for example and install them in the locations on the board for the gain and bass, so they can be more easily adjusted.

I have been working for over a year on my MQ475 trying to make it as close to an actual production amp as possible, so I always get depressed when you guys beat me to something and post a project like this, but creating something which PG could have actually produced is the challenge that keeps me going on it.

So Eric would it be possible to take out the pots from the inner two boards and run wires from the outer two boards pots to the inner ones to control two boards with only one set of pots?

should be a simple case of set and forget, there's only 2 gain pots to adjust (not including the bass boosts but usually these are always on minimum ime)
Ti1 headunit (unique)
Outlaw in crate.
2x original shrouded ms2250's.
Route 66 in box + custom m100 to match.
Roadster 66 in flight case
Octane LE in box.
Reactor #186 in flight case.
Reactor EQ232
Ti400.2 AL
AX204A + EQ232 + ZPX2 + TBA set
ZCS6 component set
Tantrum+Titanium bass cubes
Ti12d Elite sub
DD5 + DD10 + 6 Ti blocks!

Eric...

Please remember that it is an amp ordered much in detail by me.

As things went on, the endplates got filled out - with limited space. Nico made an issue of theese pots, and I told him to go further w/o moving the pots. For me, gains are not an issue. When they are adjusted, they are set to stay, most likely. I do not use the gains after I have hit the correct setting.

You are totally correct in your statement of the pots, I cannot argue with that. On the other side, I am satisfied with the result, even if the pots were a lump in my throat...

Ofcourse this amp would be closer to PG-perfection if the pots had been moved. But due to several reasons, I chose to let the pots stay.

Anyways, I am thrilled and stunned by the result. The amp will do a perfect job for me, and have a fantastic look in my install...

Yes, sort of. It would probably require 4 gang instead of 2 gang pots.

The fact that this amp is going to be used in an install makes it more impressive to me. If I finish my MQ475, or ultimately the BOFAS it will evolve into, I have zero intention of using them, I just want them as shelf queens.

Really, if the pots were removed along with the internal switches on this amp, and then hardwired, I would see it as more of a complete amp, and it would be just as functional. Fixing the gain in the minimum setting would allow for an external line driver to fully drive the amp, and not having a pot in the signal path would be more of an audiophile tweak as well.

Some companies have made gainless amps in the past which required adjustment through external line drivers.

That's beautiful! Love how unique this amp is. The power bars are NICE.

I'm considering a similar project with A Zapco Z600C2SL and a Z300C2SLX in one heatsink. Good to see someone is actually being creative with these fine pieces of equipment.

Man this amp look's sooo badass!!! I might have to take the plunge and buy a 1000 just to get the heatsink...I also can't wait for the detailed info on the build...!

The gain's were something I was wondering about when I bought my 4 ms275's to do this same project,I wanted the ability to control the level of each channel..

If there were single gang pot's installed that would give the user ultimate control,right..1 for each channel?

If so that'd be 8 individual pot's, which would take up to much space on the end plate's if they were mounted there, or they could be installed vertically on the board where P/G put them..
I was worried if I did find or make a space on the end plates that the wire connecting them would induct RF or some type of electrical noise from the power supply, is that something one should consider when remote mounting the gain pot's?

I doubt you would have noise issues with moved gain controls. Many of PGs LE amps use tiny wires to send signals from one board to another. The Outlaw and especially the Route 66 are two such cases I can think of.

I think having wires run for remote gain pots would mess up the clean appearance of this amp. I for one love having the gain pots under plexi... for the "hands off, newbie" effect 8).

Besides I can count the number of times i've touched those settings in my car on one hand. I wish my Ti's controls were mounted under plexi :(

The wires for the remote gains would be run under the boards, so it would not affect the look of the amp at all.

I cannot say anything more then what has been said. That is flat out unreal. I would never use that amp. It would be sealed and mounted on the wall. :)

In spite of my earlier promiss, I've not been able to tell some more about building this amp; I will do so asap.
In the mean time a crate is beeing build to safely ship this heavy one-off-monster to Norway [Pedi's home].
Just wanted to say this and show that the amp has got it's name now. After yet a few small modifications it's time now for it to go home....
Ivar; PM coming soon.

SO....the MS875 QUAD is on it's way to Ivar... :D , in a specially made wooden crate, tightly fitted in there without having to use the holes in the sink.
It feels good, but relief will only come with a PM from Norway that everything is 100% O.K with this beauty after arrival.
Hereby I thank Ivar for beeing so patient, having to wait for more than one year for his dream-amp to be created.
This was the last project I did, only some small things will leave my house now.
Time to clear up what has been gathered over the last 10 years.

WOW!!!

The MS875 QUAD is finally @ my house.

I have just arrived from work, and I was happy to reveal the amp. I had a couple of friends here yesterday (Phonixx and a friend), and we were just enjoying the nice craftmanship Nico has done here.

I must admit that we were 3 grown guys discussing the amp, and we concluded that this amp looks like PG factory-made. It sure does.

Nico: Your talent and sence of details made us look like 3 kids going around a box of candy yesterday, totallt stunned.

Thank you my good friend, for the nice work...

You're very welcome Ivar, and I feel I owe it to you to thank you here for the confidence in me ,during the long time it took me to build the amp.
It has occupied my mind for days on end sometimes how to solve some issues and at the same time make it look nice and tidy.
When asked ,I will not make the same amp again though in the end I am very pleased with the result!
I'm very happy you like it, and the fact that you have it now shows I trust you too!
This amp will make any install unique; I'm curious about how it's gonna look along with all [!] the other special amps and accesoires you collected by now....
