There's more bald eagles on the Queen Charlotte Islands than in all of America. We let you choose it. Kind of like a charity thing. Canada's geese fly south each winter and shit all over your golf courses. Gives the American elite something to whine about, even though they don't understand that it's the shit that makes the greens green. Book learning ain't too popular below the 49th parallel.

On note on health care here - We have a young cousin, 15, and he was diagnosed with cancer. His family works hard, but does not have financial means for this type of traumatic situation. He received immediate, and continues for as long as it takes, treatments by the best available medical experts. Chemo, radiation, drugs etc. Direct cost to his family - exactly zero dollars. Yes, we all pay tax, and complain about it, but when a like situation hits you, you immediately appreciate the system. I am as right wing as the next guy but certain socialist elements are required for a healthy, productive society.

Yep just having had a double lung transplant last month I would be screwed without our healthcare system. I pay zero for anything the anti-rejection meds alone would be hundreds of thousands of dollars a year forever if I had to pay.

No issue at all. I can take a jab in the ribs. :D

I know that health care is a large social problem in the United States. I'm just pointing out what most Americans deem as a socialist health care system up here. To a degree it's true, but look at what is spent on defence down there. You could have full coverage for every American and still maintain a more than adequate Armed Forces. As mentioned, there are aspects of socialism that make sense.
Another "issue" is pot. It's like a war down there. Smoke a joint and you're labelled as an addict. Have a drink and your simply being social. Alcoholism is far more detrimental than a puffing a bomber. "Oh it leads to harder drugs". Bull fucking shit. If a person is going to be a dope addict - I mean heroin, cocaine et al - pot is NOT the catalyst. It's the individual's choice

I don't read every thread in here and take sabaticals away from technology. Keeps me keels even, eh. I experience information overload and unplug.

I trust your situation was successful and is improving each day? Our young fella is in month 3 now and is deaing with it quite well. His parents are over the traumatic shock now and are also doing well. The prognosis gives him a 50/50 dice roll. Medical science has come along way with this horrible disease and only time, hope and luck are available. We believe.
