2 12" rsdc ported box size?

Post by killwish »

hey guys, looking for box recommendations for 2 12's.. specs say 2.5 per sub but i figured i should double check.

these will be used in a blow thru for a reg cab s10 pickup. box can be as large as you want. and they will see about 1200 rms total (depending on electrical etc).

I went 2.06 ft^3 per sub in my ported box for 3 RSDc12's in my jetta. I am not really happy with the way they sound. I am probably going to jerk it all out and build a sealed enclosure this summer. The install thread is here: Clicky if you want to check it out. I went pretty much in between the SPL specs provided and the SQ specs provided. When I had my CV strokers in the box it sounded awesome, the RSDc's just never matched up to the OS stroker sound, so I will try a sealed box for the RSDc's and see how I like that.

i've been modeling them winisd. i think im leaning towards the SQ spec but tuning higher. so 2.5 per sub and tuned to 24.5 instead of ~23.3

i think this will get plenty loud for my friend. i just dont want it to sound real boomy..

another concern is that it looks like its running out of xmax very quickly w/ 600rms per sub..

any suggestions?

im not real good with all this stuff but when will these roll off on the top end w/ such a low tuning? id like to keep these playable up to 75-80 hz because he has ZERO midbass... then again, with rap you really dont need them to play up that far.
