I've looked and looked to no avail. I can't remember the users name/username and I need to ask him a few Qs. So to whomever has the pic of a 91 GMC Syclone in your sig, respond please. I want to know if you have a system in said truck? If so, what? A friend of mine just went and bought one for $13500 w/only 32K miles on it. He wants something modest in it and I'm also wondering how much room is behind that seat????? Let me know please.
Thanks....Mike
Where are you at you little bastard?!

I usually don't look at post looking for 'you little bastard' LOL If it wasn't for you PM I would never read this thread.
He is probably in similiar situation as I am. I don't want to do any irreversible mods to his truck to affect its value. I am very particular about Syclone, I must be able to reverse every thing and if I modify a stock part I buy a mint replacement now while I can still find them.
If I didn't care about originality, I would have a blow through with a PG Cyclone. I have a modest system. I am going to have Boston Acoustic Z6's, TI500.4AL and Exile Etec 10. I have right now Z5's, TI500.4 and Arc Audio 8's sub as right now. I will be fiberglassing a box in the next week or 2 for the Exile sub (ie when the weather gets nicer and it stops raining)
They don't have that much room behind the seats. Passenger side has a jack assembly that takes up space and is spot welded to the cab. I didn't want to remove that, so I mounted my TI500.4AL above it and ran the wire to where the jack is. I have a box that fit almost perfectly behind my drivers seat, but that doesn't leave any room for the sub to fire or the sound wave to propagate. It 7.5" deep at the bottom but its 4" deep at only 14" up. I tried a couple of 8's and decided that I really need atleat an 1" clearance to sound right. It really sounded muffled by the seat or rear wall. I am 6'3" so sitting closer was not an option. My box for my Exile will be basically an inch shorter, 6.5" at the bottom and 3" deep 14"
This post I made about this and in the process is when I decide to switch to Exile.

Another couple of notes and experiences.
The seats don't have a lot of room under them for amps. The passenger side has lump in the middle, it will fit crossover thats about it (or a very small amp.) The driver side almost has enough room for a TI400, I had one under their for a while but decide to simplify and I didn't need something that loud.
I tried Q-forms kickpanels. I hated them, I was always kicking them and they barely fit my seperates. My mid bass wasn't that great even though I fiberglassed, poly fill & sealed them with an small opening. I had to use a spacer on my Z5 so they wouldn't hit the cab metal (or I could have cut the cab). I now have them mounted on the door panels built out. I want to do something a little different than what I have, but a similair idea. The door don't have that big of an opening to recess the speakers without cutting the door metal. I want to say its 3.5" square. I know my Z5's magnetics wouldn't fit.
Oh yeah let your friend know about www.syty.net if he doesn't already know. It great place for info about these quirky trucks...

I used to be a member of the syty page, but they had problems w/that site a few yrs back. I thought they shut it down, and he is aware of it. This is his 3rd sy and he's going to be very anal about what he'll do to it, much like you seem to be. No permenant mods as he wants everything to be returned to normal. So far he doesn't want anything over-the-top. 4x6 clarion plates in the dash and a PG RSD300.1 amp to power either a clarion shallow mount sub or something else that'll fit. The truck has an Alpine tape deck w/a 6 disc changer he's going to leave in there. BTW, do you know whrere to get a factory HU for it? I know he'll want one. Thanks for your time. I'll be back at you soon.

Except for a few time when the board has gone down for a day or two, it hasn't been down in the 6 plus years in that I have been regularly reading it. The only thing I can think of is the forum software was update a little over 2 years ago and maybe you or your frind had the index bookmarked. I have had 3, 2 Sy's and 1 Ty. Someday, I will own another Ty.smgreen20 wrote:I used to be a member of the syty page, but they had problems w/that site a few yrs back. I thought they shut it down, and he is aware of it. The factory head unit is nothing special, its the typical late 80's early 90's GM Delco tape deck with black knobs and 5 band EQ. I have seen a lot of those in the F-bodies.The truck has an Alpine tape deck w/a 6 disc changer he's going to leave in there. BTW, do you know whrere to get a factory HU for it? I'm aiming for a Ty myself. Sad to say, it'e been my dream truck for years. Just isn't practical at the times I/we need a newer vehicle.
