Rsdc vs Xmax
Rsdc vs Xmax
I've got a pair of Xmax 12's now, but I saw a pair of new RSDC's up for sale and thought of grabbing them as they are just over $200 shipped. What are your thoughts on these two?

some oldschoolers might try and hang me for this....but i think the rsdcs are better in every way. all the xmaxs got going is they can handle some power and are very responsive. which the rsdc has in spades too. the biggest difference is the rsdc will play much much lower. if you listen to classic or alternative rock...you probably wont care. if you listen to hiphop, techno, some metal, or something else with synthesized beats...it will be a big step up

While I love the Xmax's, I'll agree with Brian... The RSdC is a better driver IMO. But I think the xmax still an awesome driver aswell....
Those tender little burgers with them little, itty-bitty grilled onions that just explode in ya mouth like flavor crystals every time you bite into one.. just makes me want to burn this muthafuka down.... Come on, Pookie, let's burn this muthafuka down!!!
I figured you would all say that, now im going to have to buy them. Although I love my xmax's and will definitely be hard parting with them. Thanks for your inputs and I'm shocked to see Moe posting in one of my threads
EDIT: also one other question. I've had my xmax's since I bought them in 97-98 and never had a problem. Do you suppose the Rsdc's will hold up just as long?

while all the above may be true... would the above fans take the RSdc 12's over Xmax 15's? I've been thinking about downsizing and running the twelve's for awhile now but cannot make up my mind
. my car has loads of output and goes fairly low as it sits,
but the curiousity in me says I need to try the RSdc 12's at 1200 watts a piece.

screw car audio, I'd rather go fast....errr, wait a minute.
While designed to, it actually drops power at 2 ohms, in a test done on a 0.5 it did ~1110 watts X 1 @ 4 ohms, and ~850 watts x 1 @ 2 ohms. If you do the mod then it will go up in power at 2 ohms. I saw a report (been a while can't remember specifics) that it did in the neighborhood of 1600 watts x 1 @ 2 ohms modded. The review was done by Car Stereo Review. I had scanned and posted the review it the lit section here.todd217 wrote:well since the zpa's make the same power at 1 or 4 ohms unless you mod it. just wire them to 4 ohm mono load. coils in series then drivers in parallel. btw i dont think the zpa will run at 1 ohm mono in high power mode if you mod it.
My 0.5 is wired to 2 ohms x 1 and not modded and set at 1100 watts and the 550 watts to each TREO SSi12.22 sub is plenty, though I'm going to get a Ti2500.1 for them... at some point.

Here's a link to the review. It's about 2/3's of the way down.

Xmax15's will certainly have more output and impact. Kinda hard to compare apples and oranges....Stryker wrote:while all the above may be true... would the above fans take the RSdc 12's over Xmax 15's? We did some Xmax15's in vented boxes back in the day, wow, those things could hurt you....

The 15s can do some damage, yet still maintain a surprise amount of SQ. We had a show car down here in the south eastern suburbs of Victoria and I tell ya what, this thing sounded gorgeous! The 2 x V.2 15s were parallelled onto a Boston GT28 if I can recall correctly.
But back onto the discussion of 12" Xmaxs, I've got a pair myself. I'd only lose these if I could get my hands on 3 x 10s.

xmax 15 ftw! hey moe, i know what alignment u talking about too, yeah it was nasty.
just wanst for me.
I would say take the rsdc 12s
newer technology and I recall xmax 12s are picky woofers. kinda hit and miss.
i love mine, the ones im putting in my frineds car sound good but lack major output, but u can really enjoy this bass, detailed and has that distinct sound of an xmax.

You may have subs in your car........but my doors sound better!
Well since the subs are in transit already, its a little late to change my mind
Unless of course I turn around and sell them. I don't have any doubt that the xmax's will hold up for quite some time as they have made it this long, but I do like the thought of having something that is new. Im sure I will be happy with the rsdc's.

Right now they are sitting in a store bought sealed wedge box @ 1cf per sub. When they were in my truck I had them hooked up to a zpa.3 and it sounded pretty good without all the bells and whistles. When I actually getting around to doing a real install the rsdc's will be going in a fiberglass box with all the bells and whistles.
