Which 10?
Which 10?
I'm going to start on putting the sub in the wifes car. What I'm debating on is which of the two 10"s should I use????
I'm using what things I have laying around as $$ is non-existent.
The car is a '93 Honda Accord
The HU is an Eclipse 8443
Stock speakers for now in the 4 corners (will remain on HU power, no external amp even w/the new ones- what ever they'll be)
Sub amp is the LANZAR Opti150
Sub box will have a total of 1.03 cf w/o displacement, could port??
The goal:
The wife doesn't care for SPL at all, just something to fill in the low end. She listens to country 75% of the time and the other 25% rock like Jovi, Creed, GN'R. So which sub should I choose and should I go ported is what I'm faced with. I'm personally leaning towards sealed.
Subs:
PG XMAX 10 and a
PG XS104.
I'm employing the K.I.S.S. method on this install and will take pics and post them as I go. So, my Q to you guys is:
Which sub?
Ported or sealed?

I agree w jbob. a sealed enclosure is very simple to build and
i speak from experience when i say put what you would like to
listen to in the wife's car, as you may end up listening to it more
than planned.

Sealed it is then. I was about 90% sure I'd go sealed, now I'm 100%.
The wife wants to "look" at the 2 subs and choose
so it could go either way.
Shhhhh, but I secretly listen to Rascal Flatts', "What hurts the most".

After re-shaping the box, I can now get 1.10 cf sealed for the XMAX and she'll get all 300 watts from the amp.
My sister sold our Dads bike so I know have a bit of extra $$ to buy what is needed to build the box.
So I'll start at the end of the week.
So let the fun begin.
I'm also on the market for an OLD SCHOOL LANZAR 10" sub from the mid '90s. A Pro is ideally what I'm after, but an OA, ZR, or VS. like this one will do. Sub will also look like this one too.

MDF. Where I wanted to put it and where she wanted me to put (in other words, where it's going) were two different things. My way called for some 'glass work, her way doesn't.
$$ is tight and I have everything but enough resin so I went w/her spot (like I had a choice right?).
I was given a cap by the local car audio store and repaired one of the broken posts, so I'm putting that in as well to help save the alt. The car has 250k miles on it, all original. Because of the caps size, I redid the box shape and got a bit of extra room for the sub.
The sub will fire into the trunk, sub on the left (drivers side), next to that will be the amp, flush mounted to the box and then around to the side of the box I will put the cap.
