What would you do????? amp/set up

Post by kg1961 »

Hi guys I have a 2003 toyota corolla 4dr I have a tv deck boston pro 6.5mid/tweeter in the fornt door, clarion center channel speaker (with its own little amp)
I own a jl slash 300/4 and slash 500/1(both v1) with bass knob 75x4 and 500/1
I own and will be using a jl 12w6v2
I made a trade for some gear and Im am the owner of a Audison LRX6.9(new black style) amp (almost new with everything it came with)
I know the Audison is a very high and amp and very small in size clean but it has the same power when 70x4 4ohm and 480 x1 2ohm

I could sell the jl for around 200-250 for the set or the audison i have seen being sold for around 600-800

I don't need the money but what would you do? To me I almost think its same thing and sell the one that i will get more cash out of? let me know what you guys think

BY the way i like the way the car sounds right now so Im not trying to get more out of it.. But if i go audison i can mount it like Tom's setup or a nice wall mount and flush the sub in the other side with fiberglass.....

has anyone used either amps?

i personaly would run the audison. the SQ in my opinion is much nicer and a warmer sounding amp as well. it may not have the punch that the slash amps have but to me thats still a fair trade!

and damnit zak your not helpin to see whats under that tie in his avitar either

I would temporarily hook up the audison for a lengthy audition and I think you will be surprised by the sq difference between them, and then decide which you like more, sorry for the extra work but it,s the only way you will really know which is better for you

I agree with Thunderdome. Try them both out! I have not heard of audison, but it looks like it's a great amp. And so are the JL's, so the only way to truly tell which is better is to try them both out.

Also another thing to consider is that in this economy people will probably be willing to spend $300 on a single amp (or 2 as the case may be), but maybe not $600. So you might have better luck selling two amps instead of one big one. Just a thought...

alright i will get off my ass and try the Audison. the xover on that amp is sick 8) . I just thinking of running allot more speaker wire and go active off the boston pro's or bridge it and give them the power they want and need.. they are rated at 125-150w a side and the most i have ever sent them is 75 :(
bridging the amp will give them 240w rms so i will keep the gains down. I agree this amp is great it is the biggest lrx amp they make class a/b. The jl 500/1 is a class d also so maybe i will here a differnce with a/b. I don't know. the size of the audison is about 1/2 of what i thought it would be its about 2 inch longer than just one of the jl's.
I was told by Larry (think that his name) when he satrted at audison they changed them to black from blue and these amps are to sound like the ms pg amp of old. Im just wondering if anything other than the color was changed???
I love how the amp also hide all the wires on the install so i can flush it into a wall or flush mount it and not have to worry about the wires. Im suprized the amp only has a 80 amp wafer fuse built in so it will draw about 10amp less than the jl setup.
Im sure Audison like most high end amp company under rate there power by 5-15% so i think the same amount of watt will get to my setup.
I just hope the TLD66 is coming from the company i ordered it yesterday. I will add that my center channel speaker clarion SRK5. It a great sounding speaker. I was suprised. I will have it set so i can turn it on and off when i want it.
my biggest problem is any day (im on call right now) my baby will be here.....

thanks guys I will try it and if i like it will sell both the jl's cheap
