Can I do this?

Post by Capital_M »

Can I hook up 2 amps and a TLD66 to the remote turn on of a head unit, or is that an overkill.

Also, what seize wire do I use for power and groudn conections to the TLD66? Same as the remote turn on? ALSO could I just connect the power and ground from the TLD 66 to the power and ground of the head unit?

i wouldn't recommend doing it off the head unit.

the easy least wrong quick way i would do it is running a dedicated fused 16 or 12 gauge from the battery for the B+. for the b- running a 16 or 12 awg wire and grounding it to the H/U ground. and then use a pigtail off the h/u for a remote.

Arent the TLD's fused? Also can I run all three remotes to the head unit?

nope, the tld's are not internally fused.

you should be fine...if your wire like above your tld will be in parallel while your amps will use the remote in a series.

the voltage needed to turn on the devices is very low

I think your wrong

taken form here ftp://208.187.38.55/Phoenix_Gold/Manual ... Manual.pdf
1. POWER CONNECTOR: Make connections using the supplied detachable plug. Connect the B+ terminal to battery positive, the
ground, and the remote terminal to a switched 12v source or remote wire. An internal fuse protects against reverse polarity.

I'm pretty sure the fuse it talks about is to protect it from if the installer accidentally switches B+ and B-. its not actually a protective fuse.

I concur with Bfowler.............the internal protection is for the oops, and nothing more, you should be fine fusing it with <3amps.
I think we've established that "Ka Ka" and "Tukki Tukki" don't work.
