Information on PG Titanium TI 10 sub
Hello forum. I just purchased this sub and will be building a 1 cuft ported box tuned to around 30hz. It will be getting about 375 watts. I dont know much about the sub except about how it modeled in winisd and specs. That 36 mm of xmax has to be overinflated.

Can anyone give me any feedback or experience with this sub?
Thanks in advance

They are great subs, I had a pair in my car for a few years and they sounded really good.
Be careful about the tinsel leads though, since they can get disconnected, after use. Especially when you're using it in a ported enclosure, where there's quite a bit more of excursion then a sealed enclosure.
I can't recall but I think you have to pull out the little prongs (connects the leads to the speaker wire terminal) that's soldered to the leads outwards. Fortunately for me, mine never came loose.
Congrats on the purchase

I have a pair of these in a blowthrough in my small truck. I also run a 3way upfront and have to greatly turn the subs down to blend smoothly in the 60-70hz range. As for SQ subs, not really. These subs dont have an extraordinary low end but they do wang around the 70 range. Haven't tried these ported yet due to space issues as i'd have to drop down to a single sub.
They do have a decent amount of excursion though I will agree upon.
The tinsel lead problem is quite known on these subs. I haven't had a problem with them over the last year thankfully.

yeah all you need to do is make sure that you desolder the leads off the
terminals and slide some heat shrink over them then resolder them back to the termianl and then heatshring the connector,
then push the termianls a little toward the speaker to give some slack to the tinsel.
i just fixed a ti 12 that the tinsel came off the voice coil side
now its cherry...
gonna build a transmission line enclosure for it
tuned about 30hz

I'll have is crossed over at 63 hz @ 12db. When you port it, the low end is way more powerful (in modeling)bladestars wrote:I have a pair of these in a blowthrough in my small truck. So the tinsel are too short for the throw of the cones. First I ever heard about this I will have to inspect my three pairs I own. I have never had any issues with the two that have been in my truck for three years now,
But thanks for the heads-up I will check all of mine tomorrow.
On a side note my buddy at the shop just got one of these 10's local NOS for $45.00. Our customer support rep sat in the back of his car for 10 or 15 minutes and tuned the JL 500.1 running it.
Then they cranked it up and brought people out of the building for three suites in either direction. It just roared like a lion, low and loud. People had to check it it out to believe how much sound came out of that single ten inch speaker.

Except for I paid around 200 shipped.
Yeah, sorry about that my local guy had a few left old stock and was dumping them at his cost to us because of past business between us and him. But these sold for a heck of a lot more at dealers. So its no wonder that your seller wanted big money for them. Their list price retail was way up there, but I have no complaints what so ever for the price I got mine for, they have served me well. And continue to to this day.tyroneshoes wrote: Except for I paid around 200 shipped.
On another note I have seen a set of the 15's with the cones literally warped like someone had jumped on the cones, but it took 2000 watts to do that damage to those 15's.
Enjoy them, They hit hard, and don't seem to suffer from cone flexing as much as many other speakers do.

Maybe you guys can hep me out as you seem to have some experience with this woofer.
Designing the ported box:
As shown here

PG recommends 1.0 cubic foot 2”port 9.5” long which resuts in a tuning of 28.5 hz. Sounds good and all but when you put it in winisd you get red vent mach of .32 which means a lot of turblence, flange or not. Why do they do that?
The best design I can get with out red vent mach is 1 ft tuned to 28 hz with two 1.5" ports just under 11 inches each? Are dual 1.5 inch ports too small for a sub?
Why would PG recommend a box with so much vent mach? The longest port I can fit is 12 inches. So even if I use a 3 inch port, I coudn't fit it even with a bend.

I went with a slightly larger box in order to fit 3" tubing to achieve the same tuning frequency. I highly recommend you do this as well, if you go ported. In my car I never did like them ported all that much. They got louder than all hell, but there was a lot of delay in the bass, and the woofers seemed "lazy" on anything but deep bass. I ended up liking them a lot more run sealed.

I buit the box to customly fit in the corner of my car. I have 1 ft max and I also have only 360 watts so Im going ported to get the most efficiency possible. Plus I ike the sound of ported boxes when tuned right. And I have TA on my subs with my prs880.stipud wrote:I went with a slightly larger box in order to fit 3" tubing to achieve the same tuning frequency. Well going with a larger box than needed will reduce upper bass frequencies and boost lower. Bottom line is, does 2 1.5" ports = 1 3" port?

Well I have it in a .75 cubic foot sealed box and as of now, Im not happy with the output at all. In all fairness, I do have to let it break in but so far. I dont think the sub is a keeper. Why did I sell my Audiomobile MASS?
Here it is in its temporary home while I consider keeping it for a ported box on the opposite corner of the amps.

do that 10 at 1.35 ported
tune to about 32hz
use a bigger port.
the reason they recommend that port is because they cant physically put
anything longer in that box.
experiment with wins id and see what the longest lenth you can give up.
also keep in mind that port displacement will add volume to the box which
may help you fit that port.
if you need help send me your max measurements and ill desighn one for ya.
when i say 1.3 ported that doenst include port or woofer displacement
so you will end up with more volume which again may work in your favor
to fit that port.
alos i recommend the higher tuning because it will help give you more output
28hz is very low and it pg probaly forced the tuning lower to remove any
ripple..
tune it higher
i would actually go about 35hz and let the cars natural cabin gain reinforce
your lower freq.
you could event try closer to 40
port would get alot shorter................
try it you may be surprised by the responce
i find tuning really low in a car gives you too much bottom end and can make it muddy or as stipud called it lazy.
sometimes higher tuning will make it more effedient at the higher freq but the trade off would be low bass extension which if done right with the
natural cabin gain of your car may make it just right...
its not easy and i usally play around with different tunings before i find what i like....
good lluck
