I think I found my new AMP

Post by Ride Da Fire »

I was going to install my RF R500.1 but after searching on ebay I found a Phoenix Gold RSd1200.1 Class D Mono Car Amplifier/Amp for $244. I think this is a good deal for a big amp but I need to get some info from you guys first before purchase it. I remember PG amp used to be very expensive when I was in high school and now a big amp like that cost only $244, is it a brand new amp or rebuilt amp? fake PG amp? maybe?

oh sorry, I am not up to date on that stuff I lost track after zx. That probabl is a new amp and now you just have to hope that it was not part of the early production run that had the cold solder problems.

did anyone notice that sonic advertises on the bottom that they are an authorized internet dealer?

Yes, this is the one I was talking about. The old ZX500 cost more than this one and that had me think. I probably going to stop by the dealer and see if they have one on display, i want to hear it before make a final decision.

The RSd amps is just a few generation newer than the zx. Both were top of the line PG amps. The RSd is just the younger brother, with some upgrades ;)

The zx500 is a powerful amp as well, but either way you go you probably won't be sorry.

Also, sonic was an old internet authorized dealer, back in the Rondin days I believe. You probably won't find these at any brick and mortar store either, since they were release in 2008, and PG just released new stuff, so I doubt that you will be able to find one on the shelf to listen too. I believe stryker has 2 of these in his install and really likes them...

I have heard both amps in one setup before. If I was in need of a bass amp, I would go for the 1200.1....it destroys the zx500 power wise. If I wanted a bass amp to match a zx450, I would get a zx500.

Oh dang it, this question sound stupid but would a new alternator fry my electronic stuffs in my car since it put out higher amp/voltage? So I need to upgrade battery and alternator right?

no, you amp can kill a factory alt/battery if it is cranked for too long, too high.... Take it easy and you should be fine.
