Can one send others to war if hes not willing to go himself?
First problem I see is in the testing alone. An input left unloaded will pick up anything it can such as a fluorescent lamp nearby, power supply etc. To make the testing accurate he needs to apply a shorting plug to the unloaded input to effectively nullify the effect that the surrounding environment may have on that channel.
Then the results will be realistic and I'd be willing to bet there would be a significant change in levels.

I think we've established that "Ka Ka" and "Tukki Tukki" don't work.

In short either channel at idle has an audio level at idle whether you can hear it or not. Each channel will effect the other to some extent and what they are trying to show is how much sound is passed from one channel to the next when playing........think of it as an apartment in the ghetto vs. the burbs, which ever has less noise from one room/channel to the next is the one you would prefer to have.bdubs767 wrote:channel seperation
..........this brings to mind another flaw in the methodology, if he is testing a channel at idle with the other running, did he measure the audio level of the amp with a 0-bit track to get a baseline for the inherent audio idle of said amp and then measure the difference of the idle vs. testing levels?

hmmm....this is a very interesting topic.
And I have the amps to perform some type of test quite easily...
Errin have any suggestion on some test I can try to run this test the differences in DM amps vs Stereo amps?

yep get a baseline audio level before doing anything, for the room and for the amp with a 0-bit track.
I would suggest using pink noise instead of a set test tone however.
Make certain you are using a shorting plug as well when you meter the channel crosstalk.

Now, this should be fine for now. However, it's no longer good manner if he continues to bring up old topics well beyond his introduction time to this forum.

maybe I missed something. Instead of trying to make a fight with me I think we should all try getting along and tellming me something I dont know.
In my experience with shorting out RCA plugs on Radios and amps All i ever got was hum. Except for old Carver gear.

we are speaking of a muting plug used not connected to any other audio componant, so you will not have your deck connected.
teh muting plug is designed to null any signal going in to or being picked up by outside noise generating doo hickies...
a simple direct connection between postive and negetive on your amps rca input will do this IE the muting plug.

So what you are saying is that if I take the inside prong (positive) and outside shield (negative) and solder them together this will make that amplifier channel dead silent?
LOL Well I got news for you pal..
No it dont work that way in all amps.
As a matter of fact when I accidentally dropped the RCA plugs on my new Polk Audio Home Theater Subwoofer the thing shita brick and made allot of humming noises. I looked at what caused it and it was the pos and neg touching the fram of a metal cabinet.
I also remember a manual of an old Pioneer head unit that specifically said never short the RCa plugs with shorting caps or your head unit will be void of all warranty.
I wont be shorting out any amp or stereo just cause the plug might get some crazy radio waves injected in it from near by lights, UFO's or Tv units..

8.1 is something to look at nick-casper. Then maybe you'd get what they are saying.
