What 10 or 12"PG sub will work good in a 1 cu ft sealed

Hey everyone, Just hooked up my first sub, believe it or not. 45 years old and always considered myself somewhat of an audiophile. Just never had much money to spend on a high end audio system. My current vehicle is a 96 Bronco. Kinda like trying to get good sound out of a breadbox.

The sub i just installed was just a cheap Dual brand 10" in a bandpass box. Sounds ok but i want something better. I want SQ not SQL. I listen to rock so i want tight bass. I am building a 1 cu ft sealed enclosure for this Dual sub but pretty sure it wont be good enough for me so i will be looking for a new driver to go in it's place. Running a Cadence FXA-1500 amp. 300w RMS @ 4 ohms, 600w peak.

Another forum recommended the PG RSD 12D. Would this be a good driver for a 1 cu ft sealed box? I really can't spend more than $100. What specs do i need to be looking at to know if a certain driver will work in a sealed box with 1 cu ft of volume?

Alpine CDM-9801 hu
Polk Audio 6.5" door speakers
Polk Audio 5X7" mid speakers
Dual 10" SBP10 10" sub
Cadence FXA-1500 amp 300w RMS @ 4 ohms, 600 peak

i wouldnt recommend it. the rsd12 really likes 1.2 minimum, and i like to run them at 1.8 if there is room.

so you already have the box built?

An RSDC 12" requires 1.17 cubic foot box for a sealed SQ box taking into account driver displacement. You could probably put it in a 1 cubic foot box and throw in 3 to 4 pounds of polyfill and it will probably work out just fine. You can also try different amounts of polyfill to get different sound results. generally you use 1 pound of polyfill per 1 cu. ft.

Try an XMAX 12, I have 2, each running in a 1.0cuft sealed enclosure and the SQ if phenominal and the bass makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up.

They are hard to come by, but they are available and are rated at 600wrms.

What he ^ said. Try an Xmax 12. I've owned some for quite a while and never had any issues. They are nice subs with alot of power.

most poeple pic the sub depending one the power handling and what they listend too, then build the box to fit the woofer. Not pick the size of the box and then the woofer but it still works.

i would just get the rsdc124 since that amp will do 500w @ 2ohms. the difference in physical size between 1 or 1.3cuft is not that much.

At first i had planned on moving the Dual brand 10" i have to a sealed box. Somewhere i read for rock and roll, a 1 to 1.25 cu ft box would make it sound best. That was the only reason i figured would have a box that size already built.

Ok... onto a really noob question. Can i just replace my 4 ohm driver with a 2 ohm driver and the amp will be nearly doubled in power? or is it a matter of how it's wired to get it running at 2 ohms? This is one aspect of subs that i don't understand yet.

yes and no there are a few 2ohm subs but not many. the are a ton of dual 4 ohm coil subs when the coils are wired in parallel the sub become 2ohm. yes that amp is rated at 500w@2ohms @13.8v. if you wire the sub to 2ohms and its too loud just turn down the sub.

in that case, i would step down to a rsdc 10, which are easy to find under 100, makes the xmax obsolete. they like a .7net ft^3 box
