Been working on a burned MS1000TA

Post by joerg »

I´m half way thru with it already as i´m writing this. This amp was included in the FAS-deal i did. It was burned to death, when water filled up the trunk of the car it was installed in, during a hail/rainstorm.
I had two more MS2250TA boards flying arround here that came out of 2 amps where the sinks and all where trashed. So i decided to take em to make a nice little custom MS1000TA.

Thanks! Will have the other board ready tomorrow. I just don´t know what kind of plexi i´ll put on it. Unfortunally came without. :( And because i changed it´s look a little bit i don´t want to go with a TA plexi.

I am a bit confused?

Where is the burn, or should my question be "where was the burn"? If you are that good and fixing the boards, I have a few others I can probably send your way!

I thought I was getting good at fixing burned boards, but I have to admit, your years ahead of me

As i worte in my first post i had two spare MS2250TA boards flying arround which are in very good condition. The ones that were in the sink originallly are burned beyond repairs. The whole input section behind the transformers is missing on both boards.

I know how to change caps on MS amps in the meanwhile and can locate minor issues and faults but i´m for sure not able to do a board repair like the one you did to the original MS2250

That what i was thinking too ttocs. I´ve been talking to a kid yesterday that told me his father has a CNC at home and can do plexis up to 2meters by 1.5meters

I thought i would place the letters MS right above the 2 blue status leds from the board and then 1000 right above the other two leds. And that on both boards 8)

Put a couple in the sides, paint a boarder around the edges to hide them and really make it light up!

Too bad you dumped those burned boards. There might have been some good area on them for patching another amp some day.

yea he's so very right i have a fubared ms275 that donated some gold traces to my 2125 that had some shady repair work done on it and even if you didnt keep the boards you coulda sent them in to cash for gold for some extra money.

hahahhaha, cash for gold! There is no gold on these boards. They are gold plated, so the total weight of gold adds up to nothing.
