While replacing caps, Found something.

Post by gbody805 »

I'm not sure what to make of this. The other two amp I've done have not had this label.

While replacing the caps on one of my grey MS2125 amps.

I found a small oval silver sticker.
Wasn't sure what it was. I figured maybe it was an inspection sticker.
You know, the one you found that says inspected by #12

But after I took a real good look at it.
It says " Made In Hong Kong"

Were the boards made overseas?

yea ive actually seen one at a pawn shop of all places the outside was all audiobaun'ed up but you could see the inside and it was unmistakeably the 2125/2250 design i was sickened that they would take a prime amp and turn it into a cheesy fly buy night chrome amp with spinners well it didn't have spinners but it was along the same theme.

Did they have PG markings?
Did PG have their boards made over seas?

it's been a while since ive seen that knock of amp but it did'nt have the phoenix gold stamp on it just an almost direct copy of the design. as far as if the boards where made over sea's im not sure i wonder if maybe a sticker form one of the input caps may have fell onto the board as they where made in japan. but even if the boards where made over sea's they are of very high quality none the less.

I found the sticker on the back of the board after I removed it from the sink.

I didn't see it untill I removed the plastic sheet from the back of the board.
There was also several Resistors wired on the back of the board.

i have a grey rev b 2125 that i have yet to replace the cap's in but now you got me wondering i wasn't thinking phoenix gold was that established at that time to have had the boards made elsewhere but i guess you never know.

That was what I had thought also.
I had always thought that at that time PG was still making most major parts in the U.S.

This was a REV.B Ser# 290187

No actual ink writing. It is an embossed foil sticker.

That is a sticker someone stuck on there as a joke. While they had it apart they probably had a sticker near them and figured they would put it on the bottom in case anyone ever found it.
