Good amp and box recommendations?

Post by lukeman269 »

I am getting an rsd 12 soon, what kind of amp should I use to power the sub? Also, what are some good box sizes for the sub? I like ported boxes too, so should it be a slot port or circle port?

hey! saw your email, but i reply here.

honestly there are a ton of amps. did you get the DVC?

a rsd 600.1 is a good match! but anything doing 400-600 @ 2ohms should rail.

how loud are you trying to get? 600watts and a 1.5ish sealed box will hit around 136.

as far as slot port vs circle, i think they are about the same. as long as they are the right size. slotted is easier to build imo, but circle looks nicer.

Yeah my amp only puts out like 300 rms. Not sure if its gonna be enough haha. Yeah it is the dual 4. Well thanks for your help man! I have never messed with any pg products but i hear nothing but good things about them. Hope it exceeds my expectations. As long as it's better than my alpine type e, I will be very satisfied.

If the regular silver RSD, 1.5-2 cuft. If the RSD Competition, 1-1.25 cuft. The competitions are geared much more towards smaller boxes, while the regular ones play very well in large boxes, or even infinite baffle (no box; sealed wall into the cab!)

Go aeroport I've always had great results with round ports.
here's a great program to figure out a length of tube to use, or a slot port as well

screw car audio, I'd rather go fast....errr, wait a minute.
