i would acquire some t nuts to mount the subs too. they are pretty heavy

Polyfill is good stuff but that box is already big enough to not need it. Your call really.

2.458 total eh? You really should have gone for 2.459 or even 2.46. I sounds WAY better.

T-nuts are a good call for sure. I haven't stripped a single box since Fowler got me using them.

And the woofers have a rubber gasket on them so no need for another one. When clamped down nice and tight it will be good to go! Just make sure the cutout diameter is correct! A lot of generic 12" boxes are actually too big for the RSDC... it has a really small mounting area.

Thanks for the tips, i will get the nuts. I am actually at work now so i cant measure the subs, here is a pic of the cutout.

the cut out of the rsds is 10 3/4"

you might have to put a face or ring on that box

the BOLT circle on them is 11.61, which wont leave a lot of wood for a screw or even a t nut to bit into

make them out of plexi and light the inside of the box an it could look pretty darn cool!

I love the idea, but i dont get it . Please explain, or show me an example. I am a visual guy.

do you mean make a sheet of plexi the entire face of the enclosure? and if thats the case, how would you see the light? and how would that be airtight still?

it looks like you are going to need to make some rings to be able to mount that speaker to the box right? Make the ring out of plexi, then moung the sub to it. Now you can light up the plexi from inside the box, and the rings would glow around the speakes outside.

so i will try this approach, The rings need an inside diameter of 10.75 yes? and the outide should be flush with the speaker or stick out some? then last question, if i drill the plexi in the right spots so that i can sandwich it between the box and the speaker.... dont my toothed nuts on the inside of the box still have nothing to grab onto???

measure how much space you have between the subs, but the bigger you make the outer ring will determin how much of the plexy around the sub shows but it will need to be bigger then the hole at a minimum.

Turn the T-nuts around on the plexi so the flat part is aginst it or you will just crack it when you tighten it down. Tighten the speaker to the plexi, then you can screw the plexi down to the box with the usual t-nuts.
