Xenon's too wide, they won't fit... :(

Post by denim »

I had planned to run the 200.4 and 1200.1 in the new daily driver, but I am very limited with space and really don't want build a wacky or complicated amp rack to fit them as they would have to hang off the rear seat back and they are to wide to lay next to each other.

:(

Not asking for help, just bitching. Guess they will go back into the amp collection.

you can take off the black end caps...

or take off the covers and employ a cooling rack like i did here:

and if you dont but them right up to each other, you dont need fans

Because the only location is the 60% rear seat back and the slant is some what steep. I mocked up a little cardboard spacer and to be able to access the top mount controls on both amps the upper amp protrudes too far into the hatch area effecting the enclosures I need to use. :(

Thing is, I am not going bonkers on this car like I have all the past ones, so I need to keep it as simple, durable, everyday user friendly for a father of a 4 year old, clear of the underfloor spare and tools etc.

Thank you for the example. Very cool work, but even with the end caps off, I am still a no go. Essentially, the amps combined are 21.2" wide, not including the RCA jacks. So I am really staring at 25" wide, and I am limited to about 19"ish.

Maybe a X100.2 and X400.1 could sit side by side, but that is pushing it width wise on the 60 side of the rear seat back.

Problem with that is, it would be a substantial drop in power and I was hoping to run 400 a side to the front stage.

It's no big deal, just stinks because I wanted to use them for this install. Guess I should have measured the car before I bought it. ;)

Edit: Post #1000 on the Phorum.

The issue is that I am coming from a long and wide Mercedes 2-door to this little guy:

Thank you for the link, it is a nice idea, but we sold the 528i earlier this year, and this install is for a little Mazda.

Same car, just blue. ;) Nice work on that build, how did I miss it? Humm. I will think about that, but the Xenon's are too big to fit on either side of the spare. But you have my brain working.
