Gosh this seems like an easy question... But the manual is clear as mud on this.
40A was in the amp.
Manual seems to say 30A...?
On music I imagine 30A is fine but want to make sure that it is enough.
It will be driving an MB Quart / AVI hybrid 3 way setup... Not sure of the load, but probably closer to 2 Ohm stereo.
I have been pretty tight lipped here lately... Collecting parts
Thanks!!!

I just stuck a 40A in there. It will be externally fused as well anyway.
I would still love to know what the right fuse rating is?

if the manual says 30, I wouldn't recomend going 30% over it with a 40 amp
what else can I say I am a grumpy asshole most of the time.

See here is the problem... Per the manual.
4 Ohm stereo = 15A
2 Ohm stereo = 30A
2 Ohm stereo, 4 Ohm mono = 35A
Also on the installation wiring diagram the external fuse from the battery input is listed at 40A.
So again I am lost on this issue. The max would be either 35 or 40 for the internal fuse I think...?
Any clarity on this?

the fuse at the battery is to protect the wire, not the amp. use the correct size fuse for your application as listed in the manual but 40 amp sounds like it goes on the power wire, not in the amp.

I'll open up my M50 later and see what it has for a fuse.

The second M50 I opened had a 40A in it as well!
Now both of the M50s are recapped
Both were in need. One was semi-clean, the other needed a good clean up.
I think we can conclude that the M50 did in fact come with 40A fuses.
Sadly the fuses pulled out did not seem to be PG branded fuses! Maybe they were added to the product line later?
